GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

Hey Guys, I'm new here and have had my GC for about 4 weeks now. About three weeks ago my wrists and arms started to hurt real bad, and it got to the point of numbness, tingling, and things dropping out of my hands. The Dr. said it was carpel/tendonitis.

Can anyone share any stories about how your wrists/arms hurt from the steering wheel on the 2015 GC? I really like this car, but it really looks like the steering wheel gave me the problems.

Not a weak guy, I've driven BMWs and other tight steering cars before. I can't put my finger on exactly what is the issue, because the steering wheel isn't too tight but "uncomfortable" I would say. My gf and father both after driving for about 20 minutes complained of wrist pain.

Maybe it has something to do with the thickness of the wheel? Awkward positioning?

Re: GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

I know what you mean. Maybe it is due to how thick it is. I tend to be real particular with how I have everything adjusted. Steering wheel, rear view mirror (especially), seat, etc.

And yes, sometimes the wheel doesn't feel "just right".

Maybe your steering wheel is nor centered (TSB is out there) so you are constantly trying to adjust it subconsciously.

I have to say for me it is one of the best ergonomic designed vehicles I've owned for driving. Even the wife loves it.. So surprised at this post..

Re: GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

Old age may be contributing to getting the blood to the wrists. Try altering the steering wheel position. Could viagra help ?

Re: GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

I'm 76 and I love the steering wheel and the steering response in my 2013 2WD Jeep. The longest trip so far has only been 200+ miles and that was driving it home from the dealer. No problems whatsoever.

^I'm with you.

I find the steering wheel on my 2015 Overland to be excellent in just about every way. It isn't too thick and I love it.

Re: GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

It is most likely position rather than the wheel itself.

"My gf and father both after driving for about 20 minutes complained of wrist pain."

Are you sure they weren't experiencing sympathy pains?

GC 2015 Limited Steering Wheel Issue

Did you try different positions for the steering wheel? the seat? do you lean to one side when you drive? Or more neutral?

Ive taken many long trips in my GC and never once have my arms or wrists hurt after driving.

^this
At 1st it was uncomfortable. The steering wheel adjusts up/down, in and out...found a good spot and hit the memory button
Almost to comfy now, afraid I might fall asleep
