Question GC v6 2012 lmtd - Hard time to start/long crank problem

Hello,

I Have GC 2012 limited v6.

A week back, all a sudden the battery dead and I have replaced it.
Three days back, it started to give me hard time to switch on. Either the car will switch on and off directly. or keep trying to switch on (Long crank) , after around 2-4 trial, it will work.

I think -but not 100% sure - no problem if the car is hot (e.g. switched off recently). only when I park for long time (cold). One more thing, sometimes when I switch off the car, I hear a sound which is mostly fuel pump.

I have done some researches over the Internet and understood that the issue is in Fuel pump relay in the TIPM. Is that true ?

Please advise what is a reliable solution for the problem ?
I did not take it to the car dealer till now, it is weekend at this part of world.
What about recall P54 ? is it communicated to dealers outside USA ?

Do they replace the TIPM or just adding an external relay ?

Where is the faulty relay located in the TIPM ? Why we cannot replace it with new one ? (no me, a person who is specialized in electronics)

Re: GC v6 2012 lmtd - Hard time to start/long crank problem

Hello, After going through the post and some other over other forums, I concluded:
The TIPM has some faulty issues with relays. In my case, the fuel pump relay is faulty.

To solve the problem, I have to follow one of these solutions:
1- Jumpering M25 with M7 (TIPM Bypass) e.g. TIPM Bypass/Test Device ::: Vertical Visions
Cost: 20 usd

2- Use an external relay e.g. http://www.verticalvisions.com/docum...1308000399.pdf
Cost 200-300 usd with car dealer

3- replace the whole TIPM with the new one 68244870AA
Cost 1000-1500 with car dealer

MY questions:
1- How can I be 100% sure it's fuel pump relay problem ?
2- Which one of the above option you recommend me ?
3- If I purchase the new TIPM (68244870AA) .. can I just replace it with my self (or with a help of a mechanic, not the car dealer) ?
or I have to go to the company for re-programming or something like that ?
4- recall P54 is for this issue, is it only for 2011 models ? what about 2012, any idea ?

Thanks ))

Re: GC v6 2012 lmtd - Hard time to start/long crank problem

Hi
It is the right time to have this problem since I received a recall to change the TIPM for my 2011 JGC.
I had this problem before the recall was issued and the dealer did suggest to use the bypass that cost me $107 since my car is covered with extended warranty.

Good luck

bypass is just to connect M25 with M7 ? or external relay ?
