GJC summit 2015 Hemi V8 Gasoline gets hot after 15 minutes idle is it normal

I bought this new jeep from USA in April and it arrived in July last month .At the port where's received the car they did the jumper because the battery was not properly fitted and so it could not start normally .With the jumper it came on and it was driving at low speed like 20 mph or less so I gave it to someone to drive it home until I get a mechanic to check it for me .On the way home I stopped them to check if there is no other problem .standing near the door of the driver and also touching the front sides I could feel heat , it was too hot and I said to him the car is too hot .He pointed the gauge to me and said the temperature gauge shows normal .
I said ok let's try continue going very slowly .After going like this for like 15 miles there was steam, hot water coming out.We switched off and waited until it cooled and open hood,no water in radiator and coolant radiator . So we use lot of tap water to fill up the radiator but not coolant Tried to switch on the car again but not possible because battery not fitted properly .
I called a mechanic .He checked and said the battery is not fitted correctly .he did it and the truck started normally .The mechanic asked me to do the test drive like 1/4 of a mile while he switched on the AC .when I was going for the test drive I saw the temperature gauge going up and when I to him he looked at the temperature gauge and said it looks like the termostart is gone .He asked me to drive like that until I reached home which was about 5 minutes away and take the car to his garage for servicing the next day .On my way home and driving now at normal speed , I switched off the AC and the temperature gauge was not high , it was just at normal point .
in the morning I opened the hood and saw that the coolant reservoir was empty so I added tap water .I drove the truck for like 10 miles but to check if it will get hot .But it wasn't hot .And I switched on the AC while driving ,again not hot .
I have realised now that when the engine is idle for the 15 minutes the car start to get hot and at 20 minutes idle it gets more hot .Also when the AC is on while idle it get hot quickly like under 5 minutes .Then I tried to do bleeding myself after reading about it from the Internet .i removed the radiator cap and switch the car on .During this bleeding process I added more tap water because the truck was getting hot .I stopped after like 25 minute because I wasn't sure of what I was doing and I feared causing bigger problem .
I called another mechanic to come and check it .After like 1 hour he went for a test drive and said it is normal now .When he came I touched the hood but the car was hot but he said these trucks do get hot ,and said it is normal .I don't think that is normal because the water in the coolant reservoir dropped and the mechanic came the next day to add more water but he used the coolant mixed 50/50 not tap water .
so guys after the long story the problem now is the truck gets hot when it is idle 10 minutes up with out AC on .But with AC on it will get hot more quickly
Anyone have idea .First mechanic who came to check said termostart and second mechanic said it is normal .I don't know who to believe .I also read in google that tap water can make the truck to get too hot .

As long as the temperature gauge is below 3/4 at idle, and below the red zone when running hard, your truck is fine. There is no way you could tell if the engine was running hot with just your hands.

Re: GJC summit 2015 Hemi V8 Gasoline gets hot after 15 minutes idle is it normal

It would be useful to mention the ambient temperatures where you are driving this Jeep. At over 100 F, the engine compartment and all gets quite warm, but the temperature should never get truly hot, even idling for MODERATE periods of time.

The fan will sound like a jet taking off to try to keep the engine cool--although I would never recommend idling the engine for 15 minutes at 100+, it will also tend to blow blue smoke on the next startup if tilted up slightly.

Coolant loss is not normal, period. Whether the jump start damaged anything, unknown. Your mechanic should have an independent temperature gauge to
see whether the one in the vehicle is reading correctly.
If the temperature reading is accurate, next make sure the cooling fan is working properly.

Also look for leaks from the water pump area... and the coolant recovery bottle itself. And the hoses.

NOTE: Please, once you resolve this, completely drain the cooling system and put in the standard coolant. The system is not designed to function with tap water and you'll eventually damage it and the engine.

If you have put much tap water in there, and you are in a high temperature area, your engine will also not cool properly. The factory coolant is expensive, but the engine is far more expensive.

If you really overheated that engine, you may have damaged it. Compression checks, etc.

Wow, i'm sorry that I misread your original post. I didn't see that there was steam coming out and no coolant in the system. You may have overheated it. The guy above me gave you good advice.

Re: GJC summit 2015 Hemi V8 Gasoline gets hot after 15 minutes idle is it normal

temperature here is mostly between 80 to 90 degrees. the vehicle looks fine when on the road .I only feel the heat when it is idle for long period like above 10 minutes
The mechanic has checked the vehicle and said it is normal heat but I do not believe this .
Here in my county we do not have professional mechanics.
I do not understand what you mean by I cannot know if heat is too high by feeling the sides with my hand ? when I touch the front sides it gets too hot to touch with the hand after 20 minutes . it gets very hot and even I sit on the driver seat I can feel some heat with the window down but the temperature gauge still at the normal half way .The fan goes on and very loud noise .Also when on the road the gauge is at the normal half way point
I am also thinking to order the manufacturers recommended coolant ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1439648123.965462.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1439648156.348272.jpg
there are two coolant pictures attached .one is manufacturers recommended coolant the other is coolant which I get quickly from United Kingdom .Can I use the one from UK or do you advice the manufacturers one .
Also how can I know if the fan is working correctly

You're engine coolant runs at about 200-225 degrees F. There is no way you would be touching that with your hands! It is completely normal to feel some heat outside the engine bay. You're just going to have to trust me on this point. There are a few ways to test the engine fan, but if yours was bad the temperature gauge would go all the way up at idle with the AC on. I am not sure why you lost all of your coolant, but I would just fill it back up with whatever it came with, bleed it out, and run the truck hard. Any problems will show themselves shortly. Just keep an eye on the temp gauge and the coolant level! Never run it without coolant or when the guage is in the red.

The truck lost the coolant because of the steam on the way from the ports .Vehicle was moving slowly I don't know if this was caused by the jumper and driving it without battery connected or maybe the driver mistakenly set the speed limit unknowingly , he never drove that type of truck before .
I can remember very well after the steam the we added tap water as that was the only water available at the time and it was night ,the first mechanic fitted the battery properly and switched on the vehicle with the push button ,he switched on the AC and asked me to do a test drive .After driving like 0.4 miles the temperature gauge was up around 3/4 he said he thinks the thermostat is bad so he asked me to drive home which was just about 1 mile away and park the vehicle until the next day .But when I switched on the vehicle again I switched off the AC and drive home , the temperature gauge was at normal half way.So I didn't call that mechanic again because he switched on the AC right at startup and gauge was going up and he asking me to drive it like that so I taught I should check another mechanic .that is why I contacted another mechanic who after checking it and added some more tap water and vehicle was idling for some time and then he went for a test drive and said it is fine and normal .He did say that these vehicles have automatic bleeding I don't know what that means but still front sides gets hot really hot when when I feel with my hand .but temperature gauge at normal halfway and next day I checked the reserve tank and it has dropped a little

need your advice and ideas , here we don't have great mechanics that's why I bought a brand new car so that I don't have to worry about mechanics but it turns out differently

Re: GJC summit 2015 Hemi V8 Gasoline gets hot after 15 minutes idle is it normal

First off, check the oil. Is it full? Does it look like oil and not like milk? If everything is ok there, I would then proceed to fill the system up with the recommended coolant mix. Then I would start it up and bleed the system (with a vacuum), all the while watching the exhaust for any unusual smoke. After this, I would hook up a pressure tester and pump the system up to the max on the radiator cap and check for leaks and smoke out the exhaust. If everything looked ok, I would take the truck out and drive it hard, all the while watching the temperature gauge and cycling between heat and AC. I would then bring it back into the shop and check the radiator for exhaust gas, using a fairly inexpensive kit. If everthing went well and the customer was still concerned, I would take an oil sample and send it to Blackstone Labs for analysis. If all of the above checks out, I probably would not be concerned. This is pretty much how I would handle a vehicle like this in my shop. The real problem here is that you lost all of the coolant, probably from an overheat, when the truck was brand new. The question is why did it overheat? It is a remote possibility that the factory did not bleed it correctly or even underfilled it. At this point, I would be on the phone with the place you bought it from.
