Grand Cherokee under investigation

Now I'm a little confused I know when I first saw the jeep I said I have to drive it. Which I did I said this is new I can get used to it but when I bought the car it has not changed still the same from the first test drive and I drove three before I bought my overland. I don't get it for the guys that have been driving for 50+ years first off God bless but you should be smart enough to know if it don't work for you don't get it. I don't know just my opinion.

Heh. Just because I like my EcoDiesel overall doesn't mean I have to love everything about it. I also hate the gaudy LED highlights around the headlamp assemblies, etc. However, on balance, the diesel WK2 Summit was the only product on the market that offered me what I wanted in a vehicle.

I hate the goddamn shifter. Doesn't mean I would rather be driving a shitbox simply to get a decent shifter instead. Proportionality of tradeoffs applies.

I just don't understand you buy a 55000 jeep and you don't like pretty much major parts of the jeep why get it. Ok Eco diesel I understand but like I said why buy if not happy and then complain.

Because if you wait for a vehicle to be created that precisely matches everything you want, then you'll be walking for the rest of your life. Did you miss the part where I said I liked my EcoDiesel Summit overall despite hating certain design elements?

Like I said, tradeoffs; taking the bad with the good. Then again, if you consider a shifter to be a "major" part of a vehicle then perhaps your checklist of vehicle considerations is much more circumscribed.

Re: Grand Cherokee under investigation

Ok I see where this is going I'll just end it. But before that happens when did the shifter become the most important part of the vehicle for me where did I state that. For the most part you drove it before you paid for it I would hope if you didn't like it then that's on you. If it's a little tricky for you that's ok maybe you'll get the hang of it one day.

This! And criticism can be constructive. I think its obvious there is improvement to be made with the shifter......

Agree, the shifter is simply bad.

I guess you need to reread your own posts and mine. You referred to the shifter as "pretty much [a] major part". That's where I quoted "major" from... hence my use of quotes.

I don't mind it, trying to shift between D and R when doing 3 point turns can be annoying. And I'd prefer to use the shifter to manually select a gear rather than the paddles. So it could improve.

The new shifter sounds better.

I agree. But, it's good to know it's there.

I just hope the new shifter doesn't make you stick one foot out the window before shifting into reverse.

Re: Grand Cherokee under investigation

I think the current electronic shifter is great. Keep up the good work FCA.

Best thing I've had in any of my other vehicles. I will say I still prefer a manual over the electronic shifter.

Re: Grand Cherokee under investigation

I thought most cars use electronic shifters, and have for a while. They just don't let it show. Most, not all, like things consistent when the move from vehicle to vehicle.

I'm very happy that the electric steering I have now doesn't feel much different than all the hydraulic systems I've had.

Change is bad. The older you get the badder it gets.
