Is this something you know as fact, or are you giving your best guess. I am just curious as dealerships don't seem to have heard of this problem.

It is a fact within a small margin of error.... Maybe one or two days either side of that.

I am not defending anyone here, they are a big corporation and it will still likely take a week or so before official communications are published. If the dealer was to call TAC, they would be made aware that there is a pending solution (that latter part is an educated guess).

Edit: I should mention I don't work for nor represent Chrysler so my opinions are my own.

-I don't know the whole story as in I don't know how many prior to that were affected but they will come up with an action plan.

-It isn't GM, Jeep is not concealing a problem for 5 plus years. It was recently discovered and they are immediately acting to fix it TMK.
Will they be proactive & issue a recall for cars built March 2014-April 14, 2014 or will they treat it as a TSB> fix only when brought in...?

"Likely" an RRT.... Something that will be marked on the VINs of affected vehicles.

That is speculation based on prior production issues at Chrysler but that is common across most manufacturers.

It could be a recall if "a" failure could cause a safety issue.

CV boots fail in older cars all the time so the question is how much of a safety issue is it? Grease can getting into the braking system and possible CV joint problems from lack of grease or debris...both are safety issues. The question is are they safety issues of such magnitude that it would warrant a recall? I'm leaning toward a "yes". But then again I don't know the criteria used. Simple thing to notify all owners to stop into their dealer for a quick check.

I "believe" at minimum this would be an RRT which means that the second a dealer sees it whatever deemed repair would be completed and or checked for failure.

Willx....thanks for the information...and not doubting you at all but I'm extra curious how confident you are in the April 14 break point date. Is that from a reliable source? I am especially curious because mine was built April 14!

Arg,

Without getting myself into trouble... I know that a problem was identified by that date I really can't say much more than that. Feel free to PM me your vin and I can see if I can tell something or not....

Also I can't check a pile of VINs folks that is just the way it is but as you fall on the date I would be happy to look and then advise you more as I learn more.

I don't mean to be dark and mysterious and this is really not a big deal as far as production problems go so nobody panic.... But I must respect the wishes of those in the know whether it is a software update or something else, there are limits to what we say around here or we loose access to the info you have.
