EcoAquariums-- Haha, guess ur not only one. When I pick up my JCG after replacing new driver axle, of course i inspected... They DID not clean up the grease mess. So, I immediately spoke with them with my attitude. So, they went and clean it up.

For what it's worth, the Durango's (same axle assy part numbers) are affected as well. Their forums are lit up too.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I bet (hope) the CV joint supplier's workload and sense of urgency is lit up too. They not only have to keep up with current JGC production with good parts but also remake replacements. When you factor in 1600-ish JGC's per day for who know how long and who knows how many Durangos per day for who knows how long it could be hundreds of thousands of joints. This could stretch into late summer or fall before it's completely cleaned up. Of course we don't know for sure yet...I don't think...that all the parts were consistently bad or if there were bad ones sprinkled in but best case it's still a lot and could take a long time.

LOL!

So just an update, I just got back to work from picking up my JGC. And boy I'm the happiest SOB right now, or well so far anyway, dont want to speak too soon, lol! So, the SA at the dealer fulfilled my request for me to be able to inspect the car while on the lift. Got there saw her up in the air, the tech who was very polite and nice to speak with grabbed a work light for us to use, and he did an awesome job cleaning up the mess, I didn't see any grease left whatsoever (my OCD is at ease now, but I think I'll have a closer look later today, lol). Both axles were replaced as promised. No coincidental damage from the axle replacement, car drives straight, so I guess its safe to say no alignment follow up needed. No unusual noise or vibration that I could feel or hear. I forgot to check to see if they placed the ABS lines back in their holders, another member had theirs still left out, but I'll check that later. I would say that I'm a very happy camper, time to enjoy the drive....I hope! lol!

Good to hear! I'm hoping I'll have similar good news to post when I get mine back. I took it in on Thursday and they said 3-5 days so hopefully soon.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

So my update: Brought my 5 day old GC into the dealer almost 2 weeks ago because of this issue. After leaving it overnight, dealer calls and says they need to order the part and it will be a week, so I should come and pick up my car unless I want to leave it there for a week. I ask if it's safe to drive and they say yes, so I pick up my car.

1 week goes by. No phone call. Another 6 days go by. No phone call. So today I call the dealer up and say "what's the status of my part". They have no clue and will call me back.

So far, I'm not impressed with communication from Chrysler or my dealer.

I AM impressed with my GC though, because aside from this axle issue it's an amazing vehicle.

Am I expecting too much to be updated by the Jeep dealer? I previously owned an Audi, and the Audi dealer was amazing in terms of calling me proactively and keeping me updated on service issues when I brought my car in. The Jeep dealer makes it seem like I am bothering them because I have to call them for a part status!

I'll update everyone later when (if) they call me later today. Either the part is back-ordered for over 2 weeks, or it is sitting at the dealer and they just haven't bothered to call me. We'll see.
