Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I suspect the stealers have been made aware of the issue from the factory so thry will hoard the part for their own inventory.

What you all need is a news story.......someone with the wheels full needs to drive to the nesrest tv station and get someone to takr a look.......and tell them you have ~50 friends all ovrr the country with a span of 6 week build date.

Good luck to all.

Literally 100's of people with failed engines before the recall was issued.....

People constantly complained, dealers were inundated with this severe issue for a long long time before something was done..

The CV boot clamp issue is a drop in the bucket cost wise compared to a major top end engine overhaul. I don't forsee anything happening corporate wise.

It fails, you bring it in, they'll fix under warranty.
Thats about the extent of it.. (unfortunately)

Meanwhile, GM just recalled 2.7 MILLON vehicles for a module that either illuminates brake lights without the brake being applied, or does NOT light when the brakes are applied.. again thats 2.7 million vehicles..

Failed CV boot issue, maybe 96,000 cars? > 1600/day for 60 days, prob a lot less....
So a recall not likely to occur, just a TSB, fix it when it comes in..

It shouldn't be about the number of cars affected but rather just doing the right thing by your customers. I am first time Chrysler/Jeep buyer and the fact that this issue has come up less than 500 miles and month from delivery is highly disappointing. However, I'm realistic to know that issues happen sometimes. But the way Jeep handles this issue (and it is a definite safety issue - how effective can brakes be if there is a bunch of axle grease on them) is a reflection of what FCA thinks about its customers and its reputation.

It isn't just a dollars and cents issue. FCA should be informing dealers to check up on their recent deliveries of JGCs/Durangos with the faulty parts and check out the vehicles they have on their lots. Rather than just waiting for a bunch of unhappy customers to show up with bad axles, how about a little proactive customer care?

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I thought I had this problem when I jumped out of my 2 day old Jeep today

On closer inspection it just looks like lots of brake dust. Car has only done 240k's / 150 miles so seems excessive.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I have the same problem, just on front passenger wheel. 2014 JGC Summit 5.7l Hemi. I'm in Iowa and mine shipped late March. I have a little over 1000 miles on it. Taking it to the dealership this Thursday. Is there anything I should know going into this?

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

If grease is in one of the front wheels, make sure the inspect BOTH front CV joints and see if they will replace BOTH even if no signs of failing in one of them.

Well, my dealer called me today and said they won't/can't do anything about the other side until it fails. They are going to fix the driver's side and that's it. Called Jeep and asked them to call the dealership to open a STAR case. Don't want to be repeating this whole situation a month from now.

Obviously Jeep has a problem - wish they would be more proactive about addressing it.
