Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

not sure if it has been brought up here. but i will post it anyways.

lots of people filed a complaint on the NHTSA via the link below:
https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/Vehicl...nt/index.xhtml

i got this from another forum and hope this will get Chrysler's attention.

I am still waiting for my Overland to be delivered which i ordered around April 8th. Hope my GC will not have this issue. My buddy's Limited built in March had both front CV boots fail. im gonna have him file the complaint

good luck to those with the issue

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Well it hasn't gotten their attention yet.

They're gonna fix what they need to fix as they pop up. Being proactive doesn't seem like the M.O.

It's a known issue. They know it. We know it. Yet here we are.

This sucks and really affects my perception of this company.

Incidentally, my build date is 4/1/14. And when I bought the truck, they said they checked it out (after I showed them this thread) and they said it was all good.

I knew it was bullshit. They probably didn't even read the thread ...or check the CVs. I purposely asked how they knew that they wouldn't eventually fail and they said something like "we checked it out and your all good." Total BS.

They'll be proactive when it's good for them. Not us.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Actually, this doesn't really affect my perception of Jeep. My perception was that they are sketchy on reliability.

I know I said that this affects my perception but really, it just re-enforces it. And I haven't even heard the "well the part is back-ordered" crap I'm in for tomorrow.

man, I'm pissed. Sorry to rant.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I gotta say the strange thing is that the dealer was totally unphased by it. I just dropped $45k on a new car and have a huge issue after less than 500 miles. When my other car had a bad interior rattle that wouldn't go away, GM sent a field engineer out to fix the problem, gave me a loaner and the gave me a months with of payment which I didn't even ask for.

Maybe FCA dealers are so used to this that it doesn't matter.

I love this truck but have never had a new car be in the shop so quickly after buying it.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

And....we're backordered.

On top of that, I just got the ol' "only once it fails" routine so now we have to go through the process twice.

I went through hell trying to convince my wife that these things aren't pieces of crap that continually fall apart until you finally have to lemon the thing.

Thanks for making it 1-wife, 0-me, Jeep. Appreciate that.

I have to say I was weary of this when I bought it and I'm a little embarrassed I let the sleazy car guys talk me into the myth that jeep has really stepped up their game.

That is rediculous they know or i should say is beyond highly probable that the one that has not failed yet is out of spec and will fail but they wont replace it. I understand the logic of not replacing parts unless they fail but this is a little different they need to look at the situation as a whole and do what they know is the right thing.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

It's a failure of a fundamental commitment to the way they do business that has me regretting my decision to buy from a company like this.

I have no issue with the fact that they're unreliable and they've had that reputation for a long time. I signed up knowing this and let someone talk me out of it. What I do take issue with is that despite this reality, they take an "us vs them" approach. And the "them" in that statement are their CUSTOMERS.

Like I said, I'm regretting the decision. And that sucks.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Reddog, have you asked your dealer to open a STAR case with Chrysler about this? I called Jeep Customer Care yesterday and requested this. They called the dealer while I held the line and asked the dealer to open a STAR case. Maybe it might help - likely won't but worth a shot.
