It's a case file in the knowledge base in the tech asst ctr for dealers that collects problem data and allows customer, tech and engineer data to be in one file for info sharing to better resolve and document the problem for future benefit ......supposedly

72 hours 500 miles JGC 2014 build date 04/05 right front cv boot failed. Paid $50,000 drove 528 miles, a little less than $100 per mile not bad!

Jackwho, if you wouldn't mind, please file a complaint with NHTSA via their website. It takes only a few minutes. If enough of us do this, maybe FCA will get their heads out of their you know what and actually start being more proactive about this!

Sorry to hear you're going through this too.

I think there have been several of those filed and the Service Manager I talked to today said there is nothing like that in the system.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

There will only be proactive measures taken if Chrysler/Jeep figures out that it would save them money to be proactive. If it's cheaper to act like it's not happening, then that'll be the company line.

Unless, of course, someone gets hurt. Then the news hits and they'll be sitting in front of congress saying that they had no possible way of knowing and that they are prepared to do anything and everything to resolve the issue quickly and orderly.

Otherwise, what we got is what we got.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Managed to avoid driving a minivan for 46 years of my life...until I bought a Jeep.

Now, I'm rolling in a beeautiful new Dodge Caravan. Blood red.

Boom. Dat's how I roll.

They refused to change 'em both. Insisted that it would be hightly unlikely that they would both go. Ridiculous.

I think I'd rather have that than the loaner my dealer got me from Enterprise - 2013 Mazda 3 w/ 30k+ miles in a very manly turquoise color. This thing has no power and feels like it's going to fall apart on the highway. On the plus side, I put $20 of gas in it yesterday and almost got a full tank. Sigh... hoping for my Jeep back soon!

It may be highly unlikely if it was a one off problem but it isnt there are likely thousands of them. Thats were sensible thinking exits and stupidity steps in. I would give corporate an ear full on that if i were you. Good luck i feel bad for you and the others going through the way they are handling this

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I am now past 3 weeks waiting on the axle parts to come in. Apparently one side came in a week and a half ago, and now I am waiting for the other. This is fun!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Bad news....The CV boot that was barely hanging on has finally failed and the passenger side has started as well.

Good news....SA called today and said both sides were in. Going for a replacement tomorrow morning Hopefully that is the end of it! I'll keep you posted.

My SA also called today and said they are expecting my driver's side axle to arrive at the dealership tomorrow. The fact that yours came in today gives me a little hope that what my SA said is true.
