If just one of mine fails, I know that something bad is going to happen to the other soon after

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Guess what??

Passenger side went off yesterday. It was definitely loosen clamp. DAMNIT! I just wish that they took my word and replace both at once instead of bringing it back again! I just called dealer, and the part-- backordered all over the states. I told them I won't drop it off there til i get notified when part arrives... then will drop it off.

Honestly, i just hope the replacement axles are good as hell... just unlike those BS OEM axles.

SA ordered my parts on 5/12. All parts in about 10 days after order. Interestingly the SA said another dealer called asking for the parts yesterday. Sorry if it was one of you. . Car in shop today getting fixed

My story is setting up just like yours. They wouldn't replace both and looked at me like I was a fool to even suggest that TWO halves of the axle would need replacements. Idiots.

I will raise holy hell when the second side goes and I'm fully prepared to lemon the crap out of this truck.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

LOL with this Jeep... Just noticed grease all over the inside of my front passenger side wheel as explained in this thread.

so far 1 month ownership,,
1) passenger door not alligned and molding ripped off
2) an engine knock at warm up idle
3) the dreaded intermittent dash board rattle
4) now the grease all over the inside of my wheel (CV problem??)

conclusion,, i bought a piece of crap!!!!!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

You better hope your drivers side goes before you bring it in or you'll be going through the axle replacement process twice.

I'm wondering as well, whether I would buy this truck again. I know that it's always the luck of the draw when buying ANY new vehicle, but people's experiences are what they know. And right now, I know that my 10 day old jeep has been replaced by a stripped down am/fm, fishbowl Dodge Caravan and I will likely have that as my ride for the next month, with a small break in between while I wait for the right side of my front axle to fail. All while I pay for a car that costs TWICE as much.

Also in my experience, while not the most exciting, my Honda trucks have NEVER lived anywhere but my driveway. Not in 10 years and certainly not in 10 days.

Whatever. I don't even care about the breakdown. What I care about is the way in which they handle them. I've never seen more firsthand how a manufacturing defect has been handled with the corporation coming first and the customer last. It's pretty scary. Any my perception of Jeep was tenuous to begin with. I was ready to be convinced otherwise but that has been a major fail.

Hope you either are able to get out of the car or come to terms with owning it. But I typically lose enthusiasm with new purchases like this over the course of a few years, not a few days. Which is pretty crappy.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

UGH I had a gmc acadia before this, fell apart almost everywhere after 3 years, decided to give jeep a chance and traded the GMC in... The jeeps ride and comfort is nice and looks are what attracted me most but sad to say American cars cant hold a candle to my infiniti'ss and nissan's and Honda's i had,, they were never at the shop, so why Buy American??? HMM i want to, i did twice , but questioning it everyday..
what bothers me most is the fat guy behind the service counter who is a no it all, and an attitude to boot.. I give him a list of the problems and he said one thing at a time and that he doesnt have time for all this now.. I said really??? then tells me the engine noise is the fuel injectors, LOL, been around engines my whole life,, i know there is something in the valvetrain thats not right.. Now an issue with the front axles?? and since its only one i doubt they will replace both at same time so i can expect another visit to the dealership when the other side goes??? wont even get into the dash board rattle as i seen it could be numerous things on these threads and being that the noise is intermittent,, there is no way the dealer will fix that...

OK rantt over, going to dealership today, i let u know what they say...

Here's my summary at 450 miles:

1. Obvious beads of paint under each door handle on the driver's side - rather than repaint doors, will live with it I guess. How in the world this passed QC is beyond me. Since we custom ordered our Jeep, didn't really want to reject it.

2. Very poorly installed rubber window trim - on all four windows - dealer fixed it already.

3. Ill fitting interior trim issues - new parts ordered.

4. Shaking/rough idle after truck is warm at stop lights and when attempting to accelerate on cruise control - dealer says could not replicate. Hopefully this was a transmission "learning" oddity and has gone away. Not betting on it though.

5. Failed driver's side CV boot

6. Poorly designed DEF injection system - going to buy Dom's DEF injector cover to address Jeep's poor design (shouldn't Jeep have thought about this on their own?)

I really love the truck and the sales experience at the dealer was excellent. But should any new car pushing nearly $50k really have these kinds of problems right out of the gates? First CJDR vehicle - possibly my last even though we really like it and think it is a good value.

Will never buy Honda or Toyota but may just mail it in and get an Explorer or a used Cayenne if this keeps up. This is just ridiculous. Thankfully got the Max Care extended warranty although we may not keep it that long.....

LOL on the winder rubber trim,, they are all folded up, i asked service guy when we were looking at it and he says they all do that, i did look at other jeeps and they were all crooked, folded up like that too,, i laughed and said, wow , thats piss poor quality for ya... they looked at me with a dumb look on their face..

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Have folks who have gotten their CVs replaced experienced issues with the replacement parts? I know that in CA if the problem affects vehicle safety (which I would assume the CV boot problem would), the manufacturer has two tries to fix it. If it fails a third time, you have a pretty good lemon law case.
