Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

My case for Lemon will be the amount of time the Jeep will be in service, I think. I'm thinking, with the 2 trips for both axles hapenning seperately, I'll be well over 30 days.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Ok, went to dealer , they said yup, cv joint , Boot, whatever, and will fix next week.

then we got to the good stuff, i asked the technician to listen to my engine at idle,, he did, he said Oh shit and shook his head?? i said not good???, he said nope,, have to rip apart the engine to see what it is,, i guess i will have to say hello to my pimped out loaner mini van for a while, LOL UGH???

should be a new Law, if a vehicle has a catastrophic failure within 2500 miles, they should have to give u a new vehicle asap!!!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

there is a slight knock in the engine at low idle, said they have to rip the engine apart to pin point it exactly,, hmm this should be fun

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

REQUEST - Let's keep this thread limited to the CV boot clamp failure so that it can be a help to others. Rants and laundry lists of issues and CV boot being a lemon law problem (if just the CV boot, nope), etc. The CV boot clamp failed, it sucks, straight forward repair, get it done and you'll be happy. Again, let's keep this thread focused on the CV boot clamp failure so it is easy to read and helpful to other owners experiencing this parts failure. Thank you - and don't take any personal offense at my post please....

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Update....

Got my vehicle back. I dropped it off at 7:30 am and received a call from the SA at 10:00 am. In 2.5 hrs, they replaced both the driver/passenger side axles, cleaned up the grease from the drivers side, washed the car, test drove it, and checked the alignment to ensure nothing was changed in the process. In the notes the tech wrote the following: "Found left outer and right outer clamps on axle boot slipped from place. Replaced both left and right axles due to clamp failure on axle boots. Cleaned wheel, inner splash shield, brake components, and steering suspension.". Note that only the Drivers side had failed, but they replaced the passenger stating that it was loose as well.

Overall, it was a very good experience. The SA was very nice and more surprisingly was that the tech who did the repair asked me (as I was walking to the car) how I knew about this issue. I told him about this forum and how there were many people with the issue. He said that forums are sometimes helpful/sometimes not; however it was very helpful in this instance and he was going to take a look at it later. In addition, he then took the time to describe to me what he did and said he was a big "Jeep" guy and really loved these vehicles. He showed me a couple of other things on the jeep and told me if I had any trouble to give the SA a call and ask for him (very nice guy). The guy also said the repair is pretty straight forward and he didn't encounter any issues. This really made me feel good about who worked on my vehicle and I will definitely take it back to him for future repairs.

Just drove home for about 60 miles and drives the same as before with no introduced vibrations or noises. Overall I am very happy with the experience and wish everyone the best of luck. I will keep an eye on it just to be sure for a while...but for now

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I have another REQUEST: When you post about YOUR CV BOOT FAILURE, can you please add your BUILD DATE, so we can start to narrow down the range of effected vehicles? The easiest way is to add your build date to your signature. Thanks everyone!!!
