Am continuing to read and post to this thread just to be helpful if possible, otherwise I wouldn't have given it another thought. This was my one new vehicle issue and that's it.

By the way, I couldn't find any South Florida dealership that would come close to the DC group buy price. So bought in DC, took the Amtrak Autotrain back for fun.

A 3/27/2014 build date or order a 2015, you can't really go wrong. Best wishes.
Thank you for the updates and words of positivity around this issue.

I am partial to a specific build which exists at a couple dealers. Hoping to close a deal tomorrow. The DC deal is what I am hoping to get as a % off invoice. Will try and hope for the best.

Hey, Dan JGC.

Was your CV boot failure on both sides?

Just wondering if there are any of us out there that had one side fail and the other side not fail.

When I noticed, it was both sides. Don't know how close together they failed though but I did notice some grease on the two front rims within the first 50 miles. It is very possible though that one side fails while the other does not.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I do want to say that even though I have experienced this problem, I am still excited to be driving my new Summit. There have been a lot of things in the way to make me feel bad about my purchase, and although I am disappointed because of the negatives, I still enjoy every bit of my Jeep.

On another note, Jeep had sent me an online survey to fill out about my new purchase. Not sure if those of you who just purchased your Jeep have gotten this survey yet. It asks you what areas you aren't happy with. I really opened up about all my disappointments. A few days later (yesterday) I got a call from a Chrysler rep who was very sympathetic with me. She offered me a choice of two different programs for free to help me feel better about my purchase. I don't want to take this thread off topic, so here is a link to a post I made yesterday. Hopefully someone here will have knowledge of these plans because I am struggling with my decision.

Click here: Completed A Survey, Got Offered A Free Protection Plan...

Thanks for taking the time to check out this link to the thread

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Philly, wish I could help you out on the plan details but I couldn't find a peep about them anywhere on the web and none of folks at work who recently bought CDJRs knew anything about them. Dealer didn't offer these packages when I purchased either.

Wanted to thank you for starting the thread about the CV boot failure. Not sure I would ever checked the CV boots if I hadn't saw your thread. Really appreciate it and truly demonstrates the value of being a part of this community.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

This is getting ridiculous now. I called Tuesday and the dealer told me the part would be in on Wednesday. Never heard anything Wednesday. I called Thursday and they told me the part will be in Friday. I just called and now they're telling me it will be in on Tuesday. I've owned this vehicle for 25 days and it has spent 15 of them at the dealership. Jeep Customer Care is useless. All they tell me is I'm sorry you experienced this issue but these things happen. This vehicle is my first and will be my last purchase of a Chrysler product. I spent $45k+ and I'm driving a POS Mazda 3 from Enterprise. IMO, it is unacceptable how this issue is being handled by Jeep and how customers with this issue are being treated.

have them escalate your case. my buddy had the same axle issue and dropped the car at dealer on 16th Friday. he talked the case manager into getting him a rental car on 19th, at the same time the case manager escalated his issue. next day i went to the dealer with him, because they didnt get the rental email from Jeep, we didnt get the rental car. called and have Jeep re-send the email. the next day 21st when we were about to leave for the dealer to get the rental, we were told that parts arrived and my buddy could get the GC in couple hours.

his car failed at only 167 miles. im guessing they prioritize according to the mileage or something like that?

Sounds like exactly the same thing I'm going through (and will go through again for the passenger side which "unfortunately" hasn't failed yet)....

I think someone said earlier that Jeep is "working on it" - really? Sure doesn't seem like it.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Just a heads up and hopefully not to worry anyone, but be sure to keep checking your axles for a while after you have them replaced (if you weren't planning on doing that already). According to my service adviser, they received replacement axles that were also potentially affected by this issue (according to new information they received), and Chrysler asked for them back.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

If they were working on it, it's been a well kept secret. And I'm not sure why they would want the fact that they were being proactive about a serious manufacturing issue kept a secret.

They would be replacing both axles at the same time regardless of actual failure because they KNOW that there is a HIGH likelihood that if one goes they both do. The fact is, they're hoping. They're hoping that it's one so that it's less costly.

Their handling of this issue is driven by money. Plain and simple.

See, there is stuff going on in the background to address this problem.

So they are recalling a recall?

This is a positive?
