Boot isn't visibly damaged and clamps look fine

^^^^^^^ The amount of grease in your photos is kinda small compared to with a CV boot clamp failure.....the inside of my rims were covered with grease and elsewhere too.

I spoke with the General Sales Manager from my dealership today after waiting a week an a half to hear back from the sales specialist. When they don't return your calls it gets bloody frustrating. Anyway cop this.

GSM says give me the details I have heard about the axles cv boot issue. Although he thought that the boot could be changed locally and did not really understand how there was a safety issue. Crazy!

Yeah so he rings me back and stated that the 'girl' from JA said my VIN was not affected. He was told 2 of his vehicles had been held up due to the problem being sorted in the USA but stated emphatically that mine was not on his affected list.

When asked how do they know affected vehicles from one day to the next.. He did not know. He simply responded that the girl from JA sent him a follow up email.

Good I'll have a copy of that thanks and put that in writing on my documents that my
VIN and vehicle is not affected. He stated, I can do that.

So, I pressed further on delivery date. Seems it takes three weeks to sort the vehicle after it docks.... Ridiculous.

Oh yeah and don't mention Jeep Garage to the Dealers. This guy hates the JG reckons it's all lies and rubbish and "Do you know that forum is run by some bloke that works in the factory"...... Yeah I reply that's how I know what's going on I am a member.

It would seem that the 'girl from JA' knows more than Jeep USA at this point. (tounge in cheek).

They say they have cameras in stock to fit to my Vehicle. The camera is factory supplied but fitted by dealer.... Factory supplied. Another interesting twist.

Been told 25th 26th delivery. Original pricing on contract unchanged.

It will be interesting to see what eventuates.

I will press for the email to be sent to me post haste and let you all know what it says.

Cheers

In relation to your earlier post. I would be interested to see that email. If possible could you also PM me the contact details of this guy so that I can call him up and hassle him for the same email that you got.

GCNewbie must have taken delivery of his vehicle by now and that was march build so would be interesting to see if the CV boots issue is on the export JGCs as well..

I don't have the email. When and If it gets forwarded to me I will share that information so as to confirm the claim made by this individual.

I am not comfortable giving out his details so as others can drill him as I have. I still have to take delivery of my vehicle in three weeks so I don't wish to start a bun fight, simply sharing info to date.

Perhaps you should call your dealer and ask them to contact JA and query your VIN regarding this matter.

I will provide an update when I have more.

I wish you well with your vehicle.

Cheers.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

As to your query regarding the Oz vehicles being affected. Yes it has. I mentioned above that the dealer has two vehicles affected at this time. One car yard in Oz with two Jeeps known to have the fault and being rectified by Jeep prior to delivery.

One yard two vehicles, predicting there will be more...

This is all I know for now.

Cheers

Cheers GR8ness

To be clear.... The above should read. OZ DEALER HAS TWO VEHICLES ON ITS ORDER LIST WHICH WERE AFFECTED, ONE WAS A MARCH BUILD AND THAT JEEP WERE FIXING THEM PRIOR TO DELIVERY. I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THE VEHICLES WERE BEING SORTED STATESIDE FROM THE LIMITED INFO IN THE CONVERSATION. CERTAINLY HE STATED THAT THE TWO AFFECTED ON HIS LIST WOULD BE DELIVERED LATE.

I am not sure what late means.
Mine will be a week short of 6 months by the time I take delivery and I am making quite a few assumptions on that present delivery timeline.

Wife is happy to run with it, we've had ample opportunity to bail. I still believe if the thing works right it'll be the best set of wheels I've ever owned.

Cheers

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Rocksfly - Do not fret. I was driving my 2014 GC this evening thinking this is such a great vehicle to drive. I am really enjoying it and so will you.

I hope those that are waiting on axel parts gets theirs back soon too.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Thanks Rocksfly.

I have contacted my dealer and he is certain that JA didn't contact them about my jeep. He is also of the opinion that my jeep build date would be earlier than march although I am certain it would be on the border timeline when the issue started arising.

I am yet to delivery as well and definitely wouldn't want to start a war with JA (although I will if I have to send it back to dealers after a week of ownership). I am in the same boat as you. My wife and I have had enough time to pull out but we are going to go ahead with the delivery (hopefully next week sometime).
