mine has build date of May 2nd as well. 200 something miles, no sign of grease so far and the marks on the clamps line up pretty well. but ill keep an eye on it down the road. however, my buddy's limited got both axle replaced couple weeks ago and now one of them failed again. his is March build

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

You guys do realize that some of these got into the spare parts food chain and were probably used for repairs before Jeep could purge them do you not? Hence the "re-failing" of some repairs. Parts should be good by now unless your dealer has a pack rat running the parts room who ignored any "recall" FCA issued.......

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

You can add me to the "re-fail" list.

I picked up the jeep yesterday after they had it yet another week to address the torque steer, misalignment, and squeaking noise coming from the replaced axle shaft.

The wheel was still slightly off center and still a lot of vibration at highway speeds. I check on the boot again to see it had again slipped off and grease everywhere yet again.

Spoke with chrysler again this morning and they're going to talk to the servicing dealer to find out what happened. I've been asking them to either buy it back or give me another JGC that works. This is getting to be way too much.

I'm not sure that dealers had any spares lurking in their parts rooms. Based on what I've read in this forum and others, owners have been forced to wait for FCA to ship replacement parts and virtually no one was able to go in and have their JGCs fixed the same day based on the part being in stock.

The real question is whether FCA has determined the root cause of the problem and fixed it, whether it be a supplier issue, factory installation issue or shipping issue.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

They replaced my failed driver side one first day. Took 6 days for them to get passenger side. Drivers side failed again.

They must have had some somewhere in the supply chain to get the fast (relatively) turn around on parts initially -I don't expect them to publicize root cause any time soon - they have to be sure or suppliers lawyers will eat their lunch

No, "just" two. Don't have it back yet from the 2nd.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Check for grease (didn't get under the Jeep though) and all is fine. My replacement axles are good. Let's hope all the bad axles have been removed from the supply chain.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Dropped it off this morning. Now I wait for the call with the diagnosis. I told them the driver's side is leaking, the clamp on the passenger side is loose and moving, also told them it pulls a little to the left just to make sure they check the alignment. They said if they have the parts in stock, I'll have it back today, if not they would get the parts from the NY warehouse and I'll have it back tomorrow. So, I of course asked what if NY doesn't have the parts? He kind of sidestepped that question saying that almost never happens and didn't give an answer. Let the waiting begin.

On a side note, they gave me a wonderful little white avenger as a loaner.

Unhappy Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

As I feared after reading this thread on both forums... I just noticed the grease on the left front wheel today, 1165 miles on my 2014 Overland (MDH 033106). Will be taking it in tomorrow morning. I've had the car 3 weeks. This is completely maddening.
