That probably IS a good thing....fresh from MI so no chance of a bad axle that was left over in the supply chain!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Almost got mine back today but no, some sensor went bad and the dealers keep no parts in stock so at least one more day. Tomorrow will be 15 of 22 days of ownership with a nonfunctional vehicle.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Hope you get it back in time for the weekend.

Our yet-to-fail side still looks good after 50 miles....sweating it out since we need to take the Jeep on a road trip in a few weeks. Don't know what we'll do if the CV fails on the trip....

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Got the call from the service rep this afternoon, the axle should be in on Saturday and they plan to install it the same day. Here's hoping it all goes well. Hoping my part is coming from Michigan too, since it's only a few hours away.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Nope, no recall yet. Some people on this forum who have contacted Jeep Customer Care say Jeep claims they're unaware of the issue, despite many complaints about the issue to NHTSA.

It takes about 3 months to be in command of something like this...and in a few months it'll all be done and gone.

Will it, though? How many people are driving around on greasy wheels completely oblivious to it? The last photo I took before it went back in for service appeared to have grease on the edge of the rotor. How long before someone gets a nice large blob on a brake pad?

Update on mine: They shipped the wrong sensor that needed replaced after the 2nd axle was replaced, so I get another weekend without my vehicle. Best case: Monday will be 17 days out of service and 8 days in service.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Bad dealership.

I agree that the grease in the brake thing is bad. I do think most people will take their new GC's in for an oil change sometime this year which should identify the problem. Jeep should, if they have the matter under control, notify all owners that MAY be affected to make a stop into the dealership for a quick inspection and free oil change.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

After seeing all the trouble others have been having with getting their replacements done timely, I am even more happy with my dealer getting mine done in about 8 hours. (that includes them driving 3 hrs round trip to get the parts). I will say that I was one of the first people to post on here about the issue, so I think I got my Jeep in for service before the masses realized they were having the problem too. Credit goes to the initial poster which prompted me to look and find the greasy mess.

Good luck to all who are currently waiting! Loving my Jeep and I hope you will too after this is resolved.

I too credit this forum for helping me identify the problem early. I started looking for the grease three days after I got the car when I realized my build date was smack in the middle of the "problem period." it didn't show up until the third week of ownership, but the service manager was impressed that I knew to look for it.

Well no call back from the Dealer Principal so I called Friday arvo. He was in but did not call back.

They don't give a flying #%+=, nor do Jeep Australia, nor does Chrysler, Fiat or anyone else that is associated with this shyte fight.

Rude is what it is, bloody rude.!

We are being treated with contempt.
