Looks to me like ALL Durango and Grand Cherokees built from March 2nd through April 21 are to be corrected. Check your MDH on the front door.
I agree but the RRT says vehicles should be changed out before sale. I have a deposit on one and was told it's not affected two weeks ago... Not on the 'list' now apparently I am but am I RRT vin or VIP or just smack bang in the middle of the dates listed.?

I have a 1000 miles to drive home when I pick up the vehicle.

Last Sunday I was being encouraged to walk away from the contract and then told I could come and get the vehicle earlier than the 1st July.

Looks like another interesting discussion ahead with the dealer.

Thanks to this bloody awesome forum for bring these issues to the forefront and keeping pressure on the manufacturer and dealers alike.

DP told me they had a dealers meeting last week and the co boot issue never even came up. Unbelievable!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Got mine back again. It was the brake dust shield that was apparently rubbing the rotor making the noise. Fingers crossed that me and the service manager don't see each other again for a while.

Haven't heard back from the dealership yet... and I told them about the TSB that is now out for this problem, so I'm hoping they fix the other side proactively too.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

The bottom line, the clamp was loose. So must have been a machine calibration issue.

Jeep is replacing BOTH front half axle shafts on all unsold units and replacing them in sold vehicles if the issue arrises. Looks like Jeep is being very proactive as the issue does not necessarily affect all vehicles manufactured in this timeframe but are replacing all unsold axles proactively.

Well done everyone. Just highlighting this issue alone has vindicated the existence of this site and its fantastic supporters. Jeep Australia may not enjoy the best customer service reputation, however I feel a lot better about my latest purchase having "all of you" watching my back!! Hope I may repay the favour! Thanks again to everyone who made this possible!! Keep up the good work.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Good news on Jeep recognizing this..
Hopefully as cars fail and appointments are made, Jeep will have the replacement parts on hand & it will only be a day for the repair/replacement of new axles.

Just one correction in your statement. With an RRT the repair should be performed by the dealer as the vehicles come in for service. So even if your just bringing it in for an oil change it will be in the system that there is an RRT that needs to be done. So its not as the issue arises, its as they come in for any type of service.

Nope - that's not what the service bulletin says "APPLICATION OF THIS SERVICE BULLETIN TO SOLD UNITS IS BASED UPON THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCING THE SYMPTOM/CONDITIONS."

So, seems like they are being very proactive on the unsold ones as they aren't 100% sure which ones may be affected.

Ok sorry about that I guess I didn't read the whole thing. Usually an RRT if for anything coming in for service, but I guess not in this case.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Well I went to the Jeep service centre today to get them to change my Oil which I had only done 3000klm since I picked it up in 3/6/2014 and they asked me why because its to soon to change and I just told them its my car that's what I want , also I brought Pennzoil Ultra 0W-40 from Amazon and Oil filter and got them to change them for $80... While I was there I asked them about this service bulletin http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0300114a.pdf
and I told them it might affect my car because the build date on my car was 14/3/2014 and I was standing there at the service desk and the man said we heard nothing about this and he looked on the computer and said theres no service bulletin or any Uconnect updates for your car . So I showed him my Ipad and this website and the comments he walked away and said ok , time went buy an hour later and my oil change was finished jumped into the car ready to drive off he came outside with the printed service bulletin in his hand and said this just come out for your car and said we are ordering 2 New front shafts for you .. So I asked him how will this take to put on he told me he never done one before and he said he was pissed off with Jeep because hes been told it must be done in the allotted time allowed buy jeep which was 1,1/2 hours lol ,its going to take longer than that ,I am more worried that I am the guinea pig here ? should I go else where ?? anyone care to comment

P.s sorry for the long post and is it ok to use this website for reference ? also for future references ??

Axle replacement is pretty straightforward. But anything just takes longer the first time, and they're probably used to learning on the customer's dime rather than their own.

Make sure they do an alignment afterwards.
