Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

So it sounds like this is something all of us can have done if we're experiencing issues or not?

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Well, obviously...but if my VIN is on the list but I have no grease currently leaking I should get replacement axles, no?

I was only clarifying your post as the condition you suggested, issue or not whether Vin on list or not you could have TSB done, was not correct.

Now you bring up a different scenario. Your call, TSB allows repair, and I probably would not roll dice and would have known good axles assys installed since I keep my vehicles til dead.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

once issues a tsb stays. so you could wait and see.

only thing to think about,,,,,if you no more warranty USUALLY you pay for the tsb. so think hard when warranty about to come up.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

And the saga continues... I had an appointment for Monday, after the July 4 holiday, so the service manager and the technician could drive with me to try to identify the rough/scraping feeling I've had since the driver's side axle was replaced. Last night, I checked the passenger side as I have been doing daily anticipating the boot clamp failure on that side, and sure enough, clamp gone and boot clamp open with grease everywhere. Now the dealership, because of the holiday, can not take the car in until Monday.

After the passenger side axle is replaced, I will be talking to the general manager at the dealership and Jeep about a buy-back or a very favorable trade-in of this JGC.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

^^^^^^^

Sorry to hear that. Now with the TSB they will replace BOTH from the get go instead of the one at a time situation of the past. They aren't going to buy back the GC over this so don't beat your head over what isn't going to happen. Again, at least from now on, people will get both axles replaced, it just took some time to fully understand and address the issue. This forum is way ahead of everyone else....

Best wishes.....and really enjoy your GC once it if repaired!

Picked mine up it had both fronts required on order but it was a four hour pick up... Details to come when I get time... Still in Sydney heading off this weekend for Melbourne. Getting a uneek bar from Dave and he is doing rocks sliders and heavy duty steel roof racks very soon. Back to tassie Thursday.

Cheers.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

A buy back on this is it of line IMHO. Simple remedy is just to replace the axles.

Very favorable to who? You or the dealer?

Thanks for the bulletin. Just an hour ago my wife asks me to look at some "stuff" on her right front wheel. Sure enough grease all around the inside of the wheel. Vehicle built in April of this year with around 1100 miles on it.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Emdoc1, I would think it depends on the Lemon Law in your state. You are headed in the right direction for replacement if they repaired your one axle and it is making a scraping noise and now you have a problem with the other side. Just because there is a TSB that does not disqualify you from your state's Lemon Law if it is not repaired to your satisfaction. Several others on this board have been successful with a replacement vehicle. Good luck and keep us posted.
