Drove the JGC from Sydney to Melbourne fuel economy 8.1L per 100 km.
SD card music played fine for half the trip the zip.... Had a look at the usb multi port facilities and the usb slot which I did not use looks like it has cracks all around it.
That would be from Dealer doing tsb's uconnect upgrade done before I would take delivery.

Beautiful driving the Laredo at 110kms all the way. The vehicle performance is impressive and I found the 11 hour journey an absolute delight.

Getting a full cut replacement 3 hoop bull bar with winch 20 inch two row 5watt light bar and front bash plate from Uneek 4x4 Tues then on the ferry to Tasmania Wednesday.

Cheers

Damn shame about the USB port. Will check on mine at delivery!! Something to keep an eye on!

Which light bars are you fitting?? I've had a look at a few different brands.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

I've figured it out. For all you guys who've only had one side fixed, Here's a sure fire way to induce the second failure.

Walk up to the wheel. Inspect it. Notice that there isn't any grease in the wheel. Say to yourself "huh. Looks like I dodged a bullet." Then go to sleep and when you wake up? You will have a nice coat of grease in your wheel.

Happened twice that way. Latest one yesterday @ 2800 miles.

On a related note, my brother-in-law has an affected vintage JGC and a few months ago I saw him at our lake house. He gave me a world of grief when he saw that I was driving a rental minivan until I pointed out to him that he had 2 failed cv boots.

So I saw him this weekend and asked him how the repair went and he told me that when he went in, they told him that they had no idea of any issue, they had no recall and that it was fine. If there is a recall, he'd have gotten something in the mail. They had him drive away. H's probably put about 2000+ miles on the truck SINCE we discovered the problem.

As for me, I have to do a summer trip in a week after next. I'm gonna wait until then to turn the truck in so I can put the miles on the piece of crap caravan they're going to give me. It'll give them time to reprogram the tranny (which blows) and check this really whack rear suspension (which is dangerous) I seem to have.

And to think my wife was worried about Jeep reliability.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Well after having the driver's side replaced at 650 miles and being assured that the passenger side was fine, even though I repeatedly asked for it to be replaced as well. This morning at 1250 miles, the passenger side failed. Called the dealer and they won't even order the part until they check it out. Looks like another week in the lovely avenger.

Favorable to me of course!

I'd be interested to hear from anyone on this forum who has successfully gotten a replacement vehicle due to this problem. I realize the lemon laws vary from state to state, so each situation is different but I'm wondering how you went about it, did you have to get lawyers involved, etc...

Just dropped mine off to have the passenger side axle replaced... Same story as other posters, they couldn't order the part 'till the problem is "diagnosed." Got a black Durango with Cali plates that smells like an ashtray...

I don't believe anyone has gotten a replacement vehicle due to this problem. I doubt anyone will.

Does your vehicle fall within the build dates for the new service bulletin? If so how could they refuse to order the part when it clearly says replace both sides.

Yes it does.

"Chrysler policy, we can't order a part before we confirm the problem"

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Emdoc1, I did a Google search in your state through the Attorney General's Office. 4 repair attempts for safety issue or 30 day loss of your vehicle. If you have a scraping noise after repair and it is in the front axle I would consider this a safety issue. The web site strongly suggests that you contact a Lemon Law attorney and start documentation immediately. Don't get discouraged and see this to the end as you deserve a properly working vehicle. There will be a lot of different opinions but I would take the advice of a professional who is an expert in this field.

Thanks DKRD12. I have read the Illinois Lemon Law Statute myself and it will be difficult to meet their strict criteria. If nothing else, I will be armed with all the information and a couple of lawyer friends have already given me the name of "the guy" for lemon law cases in this area, for when I make my case to Jeep and the dealer.

Dan, I have patience, time and resources at my disposal. Hassle them is what I'm going to do if this is not resolved to my satisfaction.
