Got mine home drove like a dream...... SD Card SLOT working again faultlessly. I guess it rebooted it self on the ferry crossing Bass Strait. Back in Tasmania getting inspection today and rego sorted. As I told the idiots in Sydney I had the issue all along being told I didn't. Quick up date on mine. Right side dry caked grease still hasn't busted out. Left side which had 40mm - 50mm difference in witness marks has let go in the last 100kms... Total 1100kms. Grease flicked all around the inside rim on left front.
They have left axles in Melbourne, rights and washers on back order. Will be right good the dealer down here directly who said they would preorder last Tuesday week. Will attend there once the rego is sorted.
You can't believe a word the selling dealers tell you. They have very little product knowledge just want to sell vehicles to unaware customers and fix vehicles as they present. If you are an informed customer then in their eyes..... You are a pain in the arse..... They don't like it if you are ahead of the game and Obviously get pissed when they get caught in a lie.
There is no way I can recommend Waitara Sutton's to anyone 6 Months of cockups and lies. One dept has no clue what the next is doing and when you have a four hr delivery all the time telling you your vehicle is not affected and all up dates are done, finally to concede Uconnect had not been flashed with latest update and that yes you're vehicle is affected...... Seriously you feel like slapping someone, starting with the Principal Dealer who was no better than anyone else at that dealership bar one. Young Alex Hennessey the srt specialist who they won't even let drive a srt..... Bosses only.
It's a joke. Alex was a very polite and some what more informed than the rest of that mob of......
Milous a million thanks.
Forum members I take my hat off to you all. May you all have your current issues resolved and enjoy safe driving for many years to come.
After having several phone conversations with a couple of Aussie members it has become apparent that many of the dealers have no clue and another fella did the same as me. Took all the cream out of the equation negotiating a sweet deal. Once they have no cream or they cut there base price to much they actually plead for you to walk away so the car sell it to some walkin off the road customer.... Then throw there hands up in the air and say sorry we didn't know about that.
I told them I had the issue they told me I was wrong multiple times by several in house depts..
Vindicated and waiting on new axles.
I will continue to post here though my intention is to post all the positives as well.
So take heart... This Laredo With all the off road stuff and new front bar. (the first 3 hoop uneek bar in Australia fitted another story there) is a wonderful vehicle to drive, transmission was is faultless at this stage and all HVAC Issues appear resolved heated seats and bluetooth connectivity with my Chinese Samsung copy phone works trick. Auto lights and wipers etc all good.

Will post about the bar later.

Will update after registered and I've had a chat to the dealer down here.

Cheers

Please Note. Aussie Vehicles.
The axles (left side only) which they have in Melbourne are likely faulty as well, because they have had them in stock all along.
Push for axles manufactured after the affected date or else you'd likely be revisiting for repeat work.

Also if you take receipt of an affected build date vehicle and it throws the grease, you may have trouble getting it registered. The bloke who did my inspection today said if there was more grease he would not have signed off on it and consequently there would have been no way to register the vehicle until the axle change had been made. Good thing I got the pressure cleaner out and blew most of the grease off both wheels this morning.
Just one more point to throw back at the idiots at Sutton's Waitara. They should have done this prior to pick up. As per the TSB RRT. Sure that would have been another delay but it could have got a whole lot more complicated and inconvenience for me.
So again I can not recommend Sutton's Waitara at all and have nothing good to say about the Dealer Principal.
Bunch of idiots who practice stand over tactics on the weak and uninformed.
Yeah you can tell I'm pissed.

The vehicle is working a treat
Now registered and home for good.

Cheers

Little piece of history...
Ours is the first 3 hoop fitted in Oz. There's one up and the Bundaberg not fitted last I heard.
I believe It is also the first fitted by Uneek at their factory. Not certain on the latter.
I'll post a thread on the bar so. Somewhere.

Seriously Mate, they work on time is money, idiots in idiots out. Spare parts supply and install, money money. get them in, time is money, get gem out.

If you are not included in this category then you become part of a group they begin to wish they no longer have a contract with.

I don't know who stuffed up on the axle cv boot issue. Such an understated phrase. I don't know who was responsible for getting the colour wrong twice, resulting in considerable delays. I do know and have considerable documentation of the record of history.
The whole process for me and a bunch of others is appalling.

The only saving grace is when the vehicle is right it is SPECIAL. I love to drive this vehicle.

Monday I have a visit to the service centre to show them the cv boots and discuss a future relationship.

Good luck to all, enjoy the drive.
Cheers

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Rocksfly,

Glad to read that you are finally in possession of your long awaited JGC.

I agree with your sentiment that the vehicle is great, but the hassle to get the vehicle delivered as specified and without defects is not what I expected.

My only disappointment so far is the standard of fit and finish of the body panels and trim. I have varying gaps and misaligned panels that detract from the vehicles appearance and quite frankly is (to me) indicative of poor quality control and lack of attention to detail on the factory floor. I also appreciate however, that the assemblers are put under very tight time constraints at each assembly station. That is, they don't have any more time than to throw it together.

My bonnet in the closed position was well below the front fender line. The 'fix' was to open the bonnet and make two full turns on the height adjustable bump stops, close the bonnet. Checked the alignment and backed off the right side one turn. All done. Total time I estimate to be less than 90 secs.

Fuel filler flap was an 'interference fit' (hard down) with the rear quarter panel at the bottom. Opened the flap, and using firm pressure at the hinged side, gave it a twist upwards. Two more attempts and it now fits with an even gap all around. Total time I estimate to be less than 3 minutes.

I still have to work out how to get the wheel arch plastic trims to fit neatly with the metal guards.

I think they could have squeezed these 'adjustments' into the comprehensive pre-delivery.

Anyway, congratulations Rocksfly. Happy travelling. I'll race you for new Axles.....

PS. My wife want's to relegate me to the Polo so she can have the Jeep.

Gr8Ness.

Hey Good Friend GR8ness,
I concur with all your comments. The fit and finish certainly leaves a lot to be desired. The days of being made in the USA being better than "jap crap" or these days "made in China" are long gone.
I was looking at other Japanese and vehicles comming out of Thailand on the dock before we boarded the Spirit Ferry and they manage to make vehicles half the price with better fit and finish.

I think you will have your axles before me. Don't settle for the left axles in stock in Melbourne they are likely tainted.

Hope you are enjoying the ride. As you know my missus drives a vw polo, loves it. She says she won't drive the JGC until she's been on board a number of times with me. says she has enough trouble dealing with a computer sitting at a desk. Doesn't want to get caught not knowing what to do with the new computer on four wheels rolling down the road. ;-)

Talk soon.

Cheers

Same thing just happened (June) to mine after 800 miles. Dealership here in NJ (Flemington) was real good about it - only took a day to get the parts and replace CV boots and front axle. Tons of grease all over. Loaner car and everything. At first I was pretty pissed, but things happen.

Up to 1600 mi now without any problems. Running great. But I do find myself checking everyday now

Went to Dealer here in Tasmania they assured me the axles were ordered, checked whilst there said there was a star against the order indicating the axles are on back order. No time for delivery given as they just don't know.
I mentioned the supply of left axles stored in Melbourne and stated I did not want one of them. They advised a new batch (new numbers) was in keeping with the same numbers given on the latest TSB 28/6/2014.

Waiting game now.

Please clarify, are you saying the half-shaft axles WERE in fact RE-ENGINEERED but have the same part number??? Odd if true.

If they are then going by date now, I'll have to have my new axles checked...AND there was no part number on my paperwork about new washers...hmmmmm, should I be concerned? It's is driving great though.

Do not know. I was just parroting that word since someone else used it. The fact that part nos are the same it is implied that part was modified. My money is on a human install mistake like tightening the clamps to wrong 'notch'" location or a robot doing the same.
