Hey Maxi.

Wondering what the symptoms were for the rear shocks.

I think there's something up with one of mine but the service guys insist it's normal.

The tech up in Sydney said they can be tricky to get right.
At the moment I'm happy to have the axles sorted.

Bravo Rocksfly, happy for you. That must give you some of the peace-of-mind you have been hoping for.

Glad I didn't take a bet with you that my vehicle would have replacement axles before yours.

I was lied too by the salesman/dealership, they did not order replacement axles for my vehicle. My plan to go to the Birdsville races (not interested in horses, just the atmosphere and beer!, and the chance to get to know the Jeep on gravel and corrugations) is dead as I will not go without the new axles fitted. I have been told weeks/months rather than days for replacements to be available for me.

Deeply pissed off at myself for believing they did the right thing and as written and agreed on my sales paperwork. The salesman no longer works at the dealership, not authorised to make that agreement, ....

I don't have the fight in me. I'm too busy with work to dedicate the time and effort required. I'll just have to accept the fact that I was shafted (pun intended).

Happy travels fellow Jeepers.

Gr8Ness.

Note: For the non-Aussie readers of the forum; The Birdsville racers is a horse racing event held in far western Queensland, Australia. See attached. Please note the flight travel time of 5h40minutes or drive time of more than 22 hours. (The rough equivalent of driving from Downtown Philadelphia to Amarillo, Texas. More than half of which would be on unsealed roads.)

Just had them replaced this week. Dealer didn't want to as they hadn't failed yet. Short story: Service manager said I might have to wait "weeks if not months". I argued and threw some of my toys out of the cot. Suddenly they discovered some axles and would have the washers sent up ftom Melbourne.

Three days later, all done. I do believe the car is pulling to the left more than it used to though. I will monitor over the next couple of hundred kms before taking any action.

Glad I didn't make a bet with you over who would have their axles first!

We could have had a bet on any number of things Eh mate. ;-)

We found the vehicle pulling more to the left.

Asked the dealership to check it while they were checking the lame camera. When we got back the camera claim was knocked on the head and they didn't check the steering as they said they would. They did confirm they had only replaced axles no alignment was done.

Whilst the wife and I both felt it was pulling left more and checking the tires I noted what appeared to be abnormal wear on the left front inside of the tyre. The dealership said they only get paid to change axles not do wheel alignment so we took it around to Peddlers and had the full wheel alignment done. Tech said the wear I had noticed would have wrecked the tire in no time.

He let us watch and the values/numbers etc then provided us with a print out of the before and after..... $66
I can't get any paperwork from the dealer. They did a flash update today and when I asked for a copy of the paperwork I was told I couldn't have a copy until it was fed back into the computer system...... OH yeah, that would be like the paperwork I got a week after the axles were replaced, which clearly states only one axle was replaced. Yeah!
A human error I was told.

NOW

Instead of drifting quickly to the left (less than 3 seconds) the vehicle tracks straight for upwards of 7 seconds and drifts slowly left.

How's your Bus going G

Cheers

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

How important is it to have those washers replaced? When I had my axles replaced back in April of this year, before the TSB/RRT, was published, no washers were replaced. I only had about 30 miles on my JGC at the time. I also wonder if the washers were already there to begin with, or did they add the washers only for the axle replacement. Hopefully someone could clarify for me! Thanks in advance!

Probably because you drive on the left ride of the road your vehicles will always eventually drift left due to the crowning in the road for the water run off to the left.

You probably have heard the expression "No sh#& Sherlock".
Dan your vehicles will eventually pull to the right for the same reasons you stated, however there are parameters that must be met.

Cheers

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

If you read my post properly and as intended, I was referring to your AFTER alignment complaint that it still drifts a bit to the left.
