For anyone still dealing with this, there is a new TSB out
http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/csn_wk2_P3914.pdf
that says to replace both of them, fix any in stock before sale, and notify current owners of the affected series to schedule service.

This is now a RECALL for all affected vehicles in that date range & for the ones who have
ALREADY GOTTEN THIS REPAIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, the replacement axles are failing as well...!
I was told Chrysler is changing vendors & new components
(once available) are to be used, for ALL affected vehicles, repaired prior or not!

I dropped of my car today (parts came in last week) and according to the RECALL notice (late 10/13/14), they could NOT perform the repair with those parts!!!!!

I'm now on the "list" for these "new" supplier axles etc., to come in before the axle replacements can be done..

Everyone who got this repair done, AND for people who's cars fall within the affected dates, you all WILL BE GETTING A RECALL NOTICE SHORTLY I was told!!!

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Actually it's a Customer Satisfaction Notification. Not quite as intense as a recall.

Awesome... And the band played on as the Titanic went down.....

I'll be calling the local dealer to try and expedite prior to the 13000 km trip planned for Dec 12th. got 4500ks on it since my axles were changed not noticed any grease, so I'll ramp it this arvo and check my witness marks are intact.

Thank you for the update.

Still love getting in the cockpit and got going for a blap around the country side.

Here in Tasmania we are avg 9lt to 100 ks, towing dog trailers and hilly terrain.

We can get 8.3 combined if we drive it gentle but 9.2 is what we expect around Tasmania and low 8s on the mainland towing camper trailer.

Love this jeep despite the quality control and ongoing concerns about cv boots and electronic modules Comunicating.

Cheers

That came out yesterday, but a RECALL is on the way..(I was told)
(Mailed notices.....) Dealers were instructed NOT to use ANY components in stock or previously ordered! (prior to 10/14/14)

Chrysler doesn't want ANY of that vendor's axles from that build date range in the vehicles weather they've already been replaced or not....

Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

Hmm...I think your dealer is likely confusing the CSN with a recall. CSN campaigns have mailed notices as well. But we'll see.

Re: Grease In Both Front Wheels... Normal?

There is a new Customer Satisfaction Notification out today about the problem. They say 11K vehicles with QT and QT II are affected and those owners will be receiving letters to have the work done. Apparently the replacements already done are also prone to the problem.

Got ya....
Well thats what they said....
Had I dropped my car off yesterday morning, the repairs would have been done, but as of today they were not allowed to use the parts on hand....
Parts dept would not give them out....

Something is up with the vendor/quality of the replacement supplied axles for sure....
