Re: Harsh Shifting

Well...I am hoping the fix on the Jeep holds - they put a new transmission in it. The symptoms sound the same as everyone else though - rough 1-2, 2-3 shifts when cold, then it seems smooth once it warms up. The scary part was that it wasn't just a symptom, it actually was creating shrapnel in the transmission pan. I used to pull my 5000# boat (GVW) with the GC. Even with the tow package, I just don't think it can take it. No more. The wife needed a new vehicle, so she has a Chevy Tahoe. Towing duty will go that direction from now on.

Re: Harsh Shifting

I got my '15 in October and had no issues until the last ~2 months. The upshift from 2-3 was really rough and 3-4 was not as bad but still rougher than all the other shifts/gears. Took it to the local jeep dealer for some service and there was a transmission update for it. 90min later the problem was fixed and she runs as good as new. Was a bit worried with all the issues I have heard, but seems a software update solved my problem.

Re: Harsh Shifting

Valve body replacement did nothing. Five delayed shift events in the last 30 minutes. Getting "hung up" from 1-2 or 2-3. Just called dealership. They'll get back to me.

You likely are on the pathway for a new transmission. I have zero faith these will hold together past 70k. Have you used your jeep to tow anything significant - 2000# or more?

Re: Harsh Shifting

Spoke to the dealership I purchased from. Going to bring the car in next week for a 10-day stay to get a new transmission installed. This transmission is a dog.

I have not towed anything.

Re: Harsh Shifting

Good luck. It has been good since the new tranny. I haven't towed the boat with it and probably won't as I think the v6 drivetrain with even the towing package is weak. I like driving the jeep in the condition it is now.

Re: Harsh Shifting

Just picked up my car from dealer. They won't replace the transmission because they were not able to duplicate the problem. Went on a road test with shop foreman and transmission tech (where the top speed was 25 MPH, by the way). Said nothing was wrong and sent me on my way. I'm over it. I'll let it be and perhaps dump the car earlier than lease termination date
