Has anyone copied the emergency key?

I'm thinking of making a copy of the emergency (metal) key and hiding it on the exterior or in my wallet in case the fob ever gets locked in accidentally, as I've read on this forum can occasionally happen.

Anyone else copy the metal key yet? If so, did a regular hardware store carry the blank needed or was it a P.I.T.A? It looks pretty standard.

Re: Has anyone copied the emergency key?

Had mine copied via my local locksmith. The rubber top on the key he had in stock looks like a typical Dodge key and it worked just fine.

Re: Has anyone copied the emergency key?

I also copied mine at local locksmith, I bought a blank almost identical to the OEM in ebay. The one I received had the center groove a little offset to one side, but after cut worked without any problem.

Re: Has anyone copied the emergency key?

I had one made at Ace Hardware from a blank they had in stock.
