Ordered a new headlamp sensor and an AC control module. Not sure how they relate. Will let you know if it fixes it

Re: Headlights in AUTO mode bouncing on and off

Mine too, goes on and off several times on my 15 min drive to work in the morning when it's clearly daylight outside. Lot's of trees around my area. My 2000 WJ was fine though.

Apparently the AC module is where the Headlight sensor gets its signals from. Mine was sending faulty information. It was replaced today along with the sensor, but as of yet I see no difference in operation. I will give it a couple of days before I make a final judgement. But...

My headlights do the same on/off when I drive through the shade/cloudy area. However, this only happens when I'm driving on streets at low speeds. The behavior does not happen in the highway under similar conditions. As far as I can tell it's working normal. I've seen other non-jeep vehicles driving in front of me do the same on/off like mine does. To me it seems to be a programming issue and not a hardware one. But I will say, it's a little annoying for them to go on/off so much.

I would just like for them to go off on bright sun shiny days. On for 5 miles driving directly into the sun with no clouds or shade is a bit much!

I would be frustrated with that too. Mine is not that bad. Only on/off behavior is when driving at low speed in shady areas. Hopefully they get it figured out.

Re: Headlights in AUTO mode bouncing on and off

It was the same in my 2011 I had. That's when I decided to not even use auto. What I don't like is if you have your lights on and you open the door it gives you a chime that your lights are on. On my maxima if you left lights on and turn off your car once you opened the door the lights turned off. Then came back on once you started your car. But I can live with it.

Mine is there for this and another issue. Told them to call me when they know it's fixed. Not when they think it's fixed.

They found an issue with the rain sensor module. Guess we shall see. Part ordered. Makes more sense than the climate control module. I know it does seem to work about a day when the autosense wipers turn on. Then it's back to on most of the time.

I prefer the way it is because sometimes I want the lights on if I get out of the car.

The Auto mode is suppose to take care of turning them on or off.

The On/Off while driving at dusk I deal with and leave it in Auto.

I don't think it's worth "Getting Fixed" because it ain't broken, it's a design flaw and they are likely to break something else trying to "Fix it".

Re: Headlights in AUTO mode bouncing on and off

Anyone had any luck getting this fixed?

MajorTom ... Did the rain sensor replacement help ?

Back to the dealer for me on the 30th of this month... Cruise control, A/C, and the same Light Sensor issue.
