OK, so if I want to use Window tint film - what "strength" should I use (don't know how transparency is measured on this film)?

Where can I get small pieces of different "strength" online or offline in NYC area?

Can try this, which lets you experiment for the ultimate level of light and preferred color, all for two bucks.

Re: Headlights indicator is getting on my nerves...

Definitely looks like a problem. If you adjust the dash light level, do these bulbs also decrease in brightness, or are they constant?

The window tint film sounds like one solution. I have also used old exposed and processed blank 35mm slide photographic film (which just looks black) as a good light shield, but adhering it would be a problem here. Clear silicone might work, but could make a mess too.

Why do these car companies do this? Does nobody think about this stuff?

Rubber office cement? The stuff should hold something like film, yet it's readily removed without leaving a trace.

You could just try any tint/glass repair place. They always have scraps from tinting cars, you could probably get a bunch of scraps of different strength.

They are constant the dimmer has no effect on them.

Re: Headlights indicator is getting on my nerves...

Interesting... This problem cropped up on 2003 GM full-sized trucks with the high beam indicator. GM came out with a firmware update that dimmed the bulb.

Hopefully Jeep can do a firmware fix as well.

Re: Headlights indicator is getting on my nerves...

Great...this little light didn't even register with me on a few test drives but now today (overcast daytime) I took another test drive and it's annoying me to no end. Thanks guys. At first I thought this thread ref to bright lights, hi-beams, etc. was a veiled reference to the how the late Farrah Fawcett looked in that 1970's-era wet swimsuit poster. May as well have a voice prompt saying "Ding...Lights are on!"

Pardon my pun, but Lord knows GM is certainly full of dim bulbs.
(exception for a few people I know in engineering there)

Re: Headlights indicator is getting on my nerves...

I have the opposite problem. I can never see mine because the steering wheel blocks it.
