Re: Headlights too bright?

I have the Auto-dimming Headlights in my Overland, and I get flashed regularly.
Its annoying.
It doesn't matter if I'm in SPORT mode or AUTO.
When my vehicle goes in for it's first check-up / oil change, I'm going to have the dealer check the aiming for me.

Re: Headlights too bright?

If you have HID headlights then it happens all the time. I have them in all 3 vehicles. Its normal. They are brighter than Halogen so people assume you have your high beams on. I just flash back and they feel stupid.

Re: Headlights too bright?

This isn't the case for me.... most of the time my lights are fine as I can see where the cut off is on the surrounding objects.... however sometimes the cut off is much too high. It's as if the lights are aimed up higher. I'm trying to find a pattern as it may be associated with changing modes as I prefer to run around in Off Road 1 almost all the time.

Re: Headlights too bright?

Crouch down about twenty feet from the front of the Jeep (in the middle) and look at the lights. If they bother you, they are aimed too high. Get a long Phillips Head Screwdriver and turn each adjustment screw counter clockwise one full turn. Check, and see if they bother you. If the answer is yes, continue with another turn. If the answer is no, you are done.

It is a very simple adjustment.

Are you mad because you are the person that does the flashing at cars that don't have their high beams on? 80% of the time I get flashed now is after I turn off my high beams in front of them, the other part is when I'm on top of a steep hill. Flash me at any of those points when its as clear as day that my high beams are off and yes, you will get 6000K of HID highbeams in your view until you pass me. Its even worst on the on coming drivers that do that when I'm driving my truck since my right side high beam is adjusted much higher than stock so my low beam will be level with the left side low beam beam. Call me what ever you want, it is what it is. I have photophobia and have never flashed a car that had their low beams on why is it so hard for other drivers to do the same....

Re: Headlights too bright?

Some people just need to get cars that sit up higher. Lol. I don't get flashed from head on traffic but people give me the finger when I pull up behind them in traffic. Lol.

Are your HIDs in projector housings? If not, more than likely the glare from your low beam HIDs in halogen housings are indeed blinding people, regardless of how they are adjusted.

He is driving a Ford Escape. Here is his signature. They are 6000K HID's, most likely in Projector/Halogen Housings. No wonder he's getting flashed.

Re: Headlights too bright?

I get flashed all the time and I have projector housings. The 6k lows, 6k vled switchbacks, and 6k fogs are a little much for some people.

Oh well.

And to be honest with you, I find some halogen lights with on coming traffic to be bright and bothersome.

Re: Headlights too bright?

It's not our cars, it's the delayed reaction some people have to light.
