Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Just got my WK2 and I am experiencing the exact same rattle with the panoramic sunroof (underneath the drivers sun shade). It is driving me crazy.

My rattle occurs:

1. When going over jaring bumps or pothole filled roads, and

2. When closing the driver side door (good for replicating the issue to the dealer)

However, when I open my sunroof (even slightly) my rattle stops.

Do any of you know if the headliner needs to be removed to fix the issue? Other than the rattle, I LOVE my new JGC!

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Mine is going in tomorrow to try and get this little rattle above the drivers side rear passenger's head. When you apply pressure on the headliner it goes away. Must be the loose screw that was mentioned before.

I am not a big fan of taking off the headliner, but every time the Jeep is in MDS mode I can hear this rattle.

Same with our JGC. No issues with the sunroof since.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

I've got the pano sunroof and have a rattle above the passengers side rear seat that's driving me nuts! Afraid to bring it to the dealer for fear of what my frost beige interior & headliner might look like when they're done.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

The dealer said they could not replicate it on two test drives today. Funny that every time I am in the Jeep it is driving me nuts. I plan to take it to another next week. I don't have the sunroof, have the DVD instead.

Gotta love those dealers. That's why I'm living with my rattle for the time being. And mine's driving me nuts too.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

I have a rattle also but not from the headliner. Mine comes for the right rear of the vehicle when I'm over 65mph.
My vehicle is now at the dealer for the 5th time trying to fix the rattle. Just keep taking it to them....until they fix it. I will be there every week until they fix it or my warranty runs out...this I promise.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Mine developed a slight rattle right after I had the windshield replaced. Go figure. Like others, I'm living with it for the time being. I like my dealer, but I am going to try my own diagnostic skills on it before handing it over to them.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Just curious if you're still living with your rattle? The weather here is now in the 90's, and with all the heat, mine seems to be happening less frequently. It's still there, but doesn't seem as obvious as it was.

Wondering if perhaps something could be heating up/expanding, cause the noise to go away?? Hmmm......

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Question regarding the case of the never ending roof rattle. Wash washing the GC today, and noticed something about the roof rails. They seem to be fastened to the roof with three or four screw fasteners, and what appear to be some kind of plastic rivets. The rivet on the roof rail right above where the rattle is, is loose and I can spin it around in my fingers. Just wondering if anyone thinks this can perhaps be the cause of the rattle, and how "tight/snug" these rivets should be?

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

I've got the "roof rattle" as well in my 2011 GC Limited. It's coming from the rear of the sunroof opening. Worse when cold out. Warm weather quiets it a bit so likely something that expands a bit when warm. You can see the hardware running along the edge and just inside the opening in the headliner.

Had mine adjusted a few days ago. Had to drop the headliner to replace the right command roof rail. Also adjusted the glass above rear seats.
