Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

On an Acura forum the same kind of noise was being reported on some MDX's.
It seems that after adjusting, gluing, etc., the fix was to replace the headliner. Someone said it was the headliner material itself delaminating.

I don't know if Jeep's headliners are manufactured the same way. But in this day and age, they could be coming from the same supplier.

Good advice, that's what I will do. 3 year company car lease, I won't buy out that vehicle for sure

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

I've had the same type rattle just behind my pano and it's clearly coming from the velcro attachment area as my dealer re attached it once and now it's back. I can push up on it and reattach but it releases after a few days. I plan to find a way to permanently attach it and take care of it myself. I remember reading on here where someone found a way to do this and it was fairly simple.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Check Milous sticky that was recently added. I had a rattle coming from my sunroof. Ended up it was (2) of the dual-lock plastic fasteners (it's not velcro guys). I opened up the sunroof and was able to look around the perimeter of the headliner opening to discover that there was a wiring harness at the drivers left and along the front of the opening that was keeping the dual-locks from connecting properly. I gently pulled down on the headliner and was able to push the wiring out of the way, then solidly pushed up on the headliner until both dual-locks engaged with a loud "click". If you do not hear the click, the dual-lock is not completely locked in place. Properly "snapped", the dual-lock fasteners will not release without significant effort (unlike velcro).

Here is a link to info on the dual-lock material (made by 3M):

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

I had the same problem. It's the wife's car and it didn't bother her, but drove me crazy. I my case it was the rear glass panel that wasn't fully seated in the roof. I pushed on the drivers side rear panel at the rear (okay - pounded with a flat hand) and the panel seated and the rattle stopped. I guess I got lucky, but it worked for me.

In my case Jeep replaced the complete headliner under warranty. Dealer first tried to fix the rattle and then got approval from Jeep to completely replace it, no more rattle since.

Re: Headliner Rattle.... Who Else is Experiencing

Reading this thread, I may not have the same "rattle" as most.

I have no sunroof, but when playing some songs with heavier bass - I can hear a rattle.

Now before anyone says "quit listening to gangster rap" - I'm not. And the bass on my EQ is at -2.

It is only some songs, and I can hear a rattle during certain parts but I still haven't yet found the source/location.

Anyone with NO SUNROOF experiencing any rattles?
