heated mirrors

Hey guys,

Just bought a 15 summit. Love it so far. One stupid question though; tried a search and came up empty handed. I know the heated mirrors are supposed to work with the rear defroster but when I turn on the defroster the heated mirror symbols don't light up. I haven't had any ice yet, not sure if that makes a difference. Is that normal or maybe a problem?

Thanks for the help

Re: heated mirrors

From the manual of my 15 Overland: "The rear window defroster button is located on the climate control panel. Push this button to turn on the rear window defroster and the heated outside mirrors (if equipped). An indicator in the button will illuminate when the rear window defroster is on." The only indication I get it the rear defrost switch light, nothing on the cluster. Best of luck. Oh and mine work, we've had heavy ice and no issues.
rear window defroster automatically turns off after approximately
10 minutes. For an additional five minutes of
operation, push the button a second time.
NOTE: To prevent excessive battery drain, use

Re: heated mirrors

Thanks for the response. I guess in looking at the mirrors there are heated symbols on them but I'm not sure if they are lit or just emblems.

Re: heated mirrors

As stated above, there is no illuminated mirrors-are-being-heated symbol; whenever the rear defroster is on, the mirror heat is on.

Also as stated above, it times-out in approx. 10 minutes. Very annoying IMHO. Ridiculous to have to remember every 10 minutes to press the button. It's not like the electrical system is anemic and needs protection.

IIRC, you can choose to have the rear defroster (and hence mirror heat) on by default for remote starts (as well as the heated steering wheel and seat heater). This is in the setup screens on the radio/nav display.
