If all they did was update the HSM that will not fix the issue, if you do the HSM update you have to replace the elements also.

Re: Heated seats poll

My 2011 went in twice for the front seats not making heat. The backs were always fine. Now the passenger front is great and the driver is "so-so", I can tell it's getting warm, but not much more.

Since that can't make it better after two tries (replaced both front elements and controllers) I'm going to settle for "so-so", it's better than nothing, and at least they will help somewhat in the winter time.

The steering wheel heat on the other hand is overkill, I have to turn it off after a minute or two or else you can't hold onto it.

Maybe they turned up the heat on the wheel instead of the seat??

Agreed.
I find them of limited use even below zero because they get uncomfortably hot in just a few minutes after they come on. But, for those few minutes, they are nice and I wouldn't do without them.

Re: Heated seats poll

Just to give everyone the heads up. I went ahead and had this done. First, they replaced/updated the heated seats module (HSM) but that didn't work. Then they replaced all the seat elements. They got the rears working but not the fronts. Apparently, it had something to do with the power; sending high/low to the rears but only low to fronts? I'm not exactly sure but today, they got it all working. It gets hot as one would expect.

Lastly, they really did great work and this is not a negative per se but the seat covers obviously aren't as tight as they once were. No big deal.

Bring on winter!

Re: Heated seats poll

I'm jealous, I may mention that TSB to my dealer next time.

The heated seats and wheel are a joke on mine. Seats take 10 minutes or so to heat up, the wheel is sporadic. Sometimes it gets hot immediately, sometimes it takes longer than the seats. Dealer tested them and they're working as intended...

Like mentioned above, my limited gets so warm I normally end up turning them down.

Same here. I always have to turn them down or off to avoid feeling like I'm being roasted.

Having said that, I don't have the ventilated cooling in my seats - just heat.

I wonder if maybe more people who have the vented seats are having issues than those with standard heated seats.

Re: Heated seats poll

Anyone else ever have the heated seats and AC on during the summer months to help with a sore back?
