You are welcome. Yes, I do have an HA - less than 500 miles on it, too!

You drive a Jeep... there is no such thing as 'weather' . Good luck with your fix!

Re: Heated seats question

Heard back from the dealer...

'We solved this with Chrysler and with our tech here - had to compare vs. another HA and your seats are getting to 110 degrees like the vehicle we have compared it to. It has a different heating setup since they are heated and cooled, so they won't get as hot as non-ventilated seats'

Convenient, yet annoying response. Obviously they did not solve for the problem of the heated seats taking an hour or so to actually warm up.

So, I reminded them that it's not the temperature that I am disputing once they are working... it's the fact that they are not working until I am an hour or so into my trip!

More to come.

I'm in the same boat as all the other HA owners, and that was my assumption all along, that the presence of the ventilation system meant the heat elements needed to be moved further from the surface of the seat and thus just don't get as hot. That said, I think they need a better system so they heat better.

Re: Heated seats question

Don't the Summits have heated/vented seats? It seems to be just the HA's. I am taking mine in on Monday and I will see what they say.

And I am fine with the seats being 110 vs. 130. My issue is they do not heat up until the vehicle has been running for some time.

What good are heated seats that are supposed to come on with remote start if they don't actually come on!

Agreed. I think it is a structural issue. I took my HA in to the dealer immediately after purchase in September and was told the mechanism heats to over 100 degrees and is working. That doesn't translate to a hot seat though...

Re: Heated seats question

Thats BS. All overlands also have ventilated seats. My 2014 overland seats are too hot in 5 minutes.

Re: Heated seats question

Final Update:

The dealer states the seat heats up similar to a comparable vehicle. Again, the temperature of the seats was not my issue, it was the time it takes for them to reach temp and evenly heat. The dealer also states that the time it takes to heat up is longer than a vehicle with non-ventilated seats. They believe it may be a software issue given the seats do eventually heat up - I agree with this logic.

At this point there is nothing more they can do, however they have sent the data into STAR. Hopefully if enough STAR cases come in Chrysler will be motivated to address the issue.

In all, my dealer has been great and I understand the position they are in.

That said, I will be calling the Chrysler Support line to voice my frustrations/ dissatisfaction and ask that anyone one else experiencing similar issues does the same. The number the dealer gave me is (800) 992-1997. I will also point them to this thread.

It would be great if the mods could combine like threads and sticky

Heated seats question

Thanks Skeelo! These seats are nothing like my prior vehicle that had both heated/cooled seats which worked wonderfully. I will do another test but 15 min or an hour made no difference. Luke warm at best in a very, small concentrated area. I'd like to test the passenger and rears too. Heated steering wheel works amazingly.

It has been 30 degrees or less where I live.

Someone suggested in post #37 reading the dc amps on the fuse for a working HA? Maybe that will give us more info.

I have never sat in the rear seats of mine, but my passengers told me that the rear seats get so hot they have to turn them to low. And that's only after 5 minutes or so.

Re: Heated seats question

Well guys - Got some good news or bad news. Depending on how you take it. I just picked up a 2015 HA, Granite, V6. I picked it up about 2 hours away, so I had some time to play around with things. I was afraid to try the heated seats because I didn't want to be fuming all the way home if they didn't work. About an hour into the trip I switched on the heated steering wheel. That seemed to work fine. Then I tried the ventilated seats. Those worked too. Then I switched on my heated seat. Much to my surprise, it heated up quite quickly and was borderline uncomfortably hot within 5 minutes. My 2014 overland might have been too hot by that point, but certainly they are working in my car. I was an hour into the trip though and some have reported they seem to not work right away. I'll do some more testing and report back.

Re: Heated seats question

Just an update after a couple days of driving. I would characterize the heated seats to be inconsistent in my new HA. Sometimes they seem to warm up quickly then cool off. Other times they seem barely noticeable. Definitely not the same as my 2014 overland which would roast you in about 5 minutes everytime.
