Re: Heated seats question

If you guys will, please go to carcomplaints.com and file a complaint on these 2015 HAs seats. They forward the complaints to Chrysler so maybe this will get them on a fix faster...

Re: Heated seats question

I took my HA in for an oil change today and also had them look at my heated seats as they were barely getting lukewarm.

The technician said that Chrysler had lowered the temperature on the newer cars because of complaints / getting sued over too hot seats.

Nevertheless, they looked at it and apparently there was a software TSB related to heated seats of some sort and the technician installed it. Leaving the dealer, my seats were definitely warmer.

The took a reading of the seats and said the temperature was 101F which is the correct spec. Unfortunately, they didn't take the temp before installing the new software.

Can you call your dealer and ask what TSB was applied? Just got mine back from the dealer and they stated my HSM was shorting out so they replaced it. Seats are still luke warm at best so it would be nice to see what your dealer did to correct this issue.

Heated seats question

I hate to be this guy but it's ridiculous; heated seats means heat! I experimented with all heated seats front and rear and they are all terrible. The only place I get heat from is my steering wheel. There better be a TSB.

Thumbs down Re: Heated seats question

So I took my 2015 HA in for service for my steering wheel warmer turning off and heated seats that weren't getting very warm. Timeline as follows (I apologize for the length)

1. Brought vehicle in- Said there was an alert that needed to be cleared that caused the issue for both- cleared the alert and also completed a recall that it had in general and told us the vehicle was all set.

I should preface this entire post by saying that I have been in the car business myself for the past 8 years along with my boyfriend is the General Manager of a Honda store. He has driven probably 35 demo's in the past 5 years and is very familiar with different brands and how something as simple as seat warmers can differ.

2. My boyfriend picked the vehicle up for me and got about 10 minutes away from the dealership before he called them and stated that there is NO way the seat warmers are functioning correctly. He then turned on the passenger warmer (with his still being on) and returned to the dealership. The service advisor (very helpful and nice) tested the seats again and confirmed that per the computer, the seats were reaching the 110 degree mark like they should. Being that nobody had sat in the passenger seat, he had him sit to compare. He agreed that it wasn't right and had us leave the car. He opened a ticket with their corporate engineering team that recognized the problem immediately. They expedited the parts to be shipped out.

3. We dropped the vehicle off the following Saturday to which it took them 4.5 hours just to install the new heated seat grid on the driver's side. Since it was so time consuming, they gave us a rental and expected it to be done by Monday. They called Monday to let us know they installed the passenger side but when they went to put the seat back in, the plugs didn't match the floor harness. Apparently, the engineering department provided the wrong part #s. They were nice enough to let me keep the rental at no charge but had to wait an additional week for the parts to come in and be installed.

4. I just picked up the vehicle on Saturday and drove off into the sunset. Unfortunately, the seat warmers were still TERRIBLE. I stopped by my Boyfriends dealership and he called the service advisor. The explanation is that the seat warmers work like a blow dryer (still don't understand that comparison, but regardless). He said the ventilated seats don't allow the seat warmers to maintain a high heat. They will initially get hot (mine still don't get hot even when first on) but they then will die down (basically, they feel like they're off). The ONLY way to re-engage, is to turn it off and then back on.

I have to say, for as many vehicles as i've been in combined with paying 50K for a truck, I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I would have NEVER upgraded to a higher package with the cooled seats if I knew it would jeopardize the heated seats. I live in New England and cooled seats are really only nice for about 2 months. I honestly do not think this is something I am just willing to accept. I have also been in an SRT8 that has heated and vented seats that warm up just fine!!

For anyone looking for answers, be prepared that the solution is virtually nothing.

Heated seats question

This is so strange that it seems very specific to the HA. I had a 2014 overland with heated and ventilated seats. It would cook you in about 5 minutes. Both the seats and steering wheel got very warm. My 2015 HA is different. The seats and wheel seem to warm up to a temperature that is warm, but not nearly as warm as my overland. Then they seem to shut off, but the indicators still show both the seats are on high and the wheel is turned on. Clearly they changed something, but itís amazing that they canít seem to communicate that to the dealers. Some are hearing that Jeep made an intentional change to lower the heat. Others are having parts replaced, while others are having software updates done. Where is the Jeep rep who is now on the board can comment?

15 limited, basically the same issue. Will be taking mine in soon for this along with 21-045-15 transmission issues.

steering wheel gets...warm ish, but inconsistent and feels like it turns off randomly.

seats are a joke: high gets lukewarm after several minutes, low is basically off. No heat at all from a remote start. and then the ventilated seats are a whole other discussion...

sigh, first world problems. I hate being THAT guy at the dealership but dammit if its being idling/remote start for 15 straight minutes then I expect the "heated" features to be "HOT". NOT "warm", NOT "warm after I sit in them for 10 minutes".

I've half a mind to go pick up a 10$ IR gun so I can prove to the dealer I'm not crazy.

Definitely take it in. My heated steering wheel use to turn off- that was the easiest fix and I will say that stays warm now.

Re: Heated seats question

I've had my 15 HA for a few months here in Tennessee, have only needed the heated seats a couple of times. I thought it was just me but my seats are nothing like my 14 Limited heated seats or steering wheel. Thanks for the information, it goes to the dealer this week.
