Re: Heated seats question

For the guys that took their vehicles in Saturday, was your dealer able to fix anything?

Re: Heated seats question

2015 HA same problem
First dealer said they works fine , they said it got to 80 degrees which was in spec.
Went to another dealer who checked it against other cars and he confirmed that it was not heating properly. First they replaced the relay, heats still didn't warn properly. Then on the next visit they ordered new heating pads, which they just installed. I rode home from the dealer and felt nothing for the first 15 minutes, then I cycled them on and off and felt some heat from the back portion but it is far lower than the limited loaner I had earlier (where I had to turn the seats off as they got too hot). I also notice the padding under the front seat sound "crunchy" now like they have bubble wrap in them. Rear seats feel fine, so not sure if it's related to the ventilation issue but I'm pretty upset about this issue in a 50k car. Calling dealer tomorrow to ask about the crunchy sound in the seats and continued poor heating

Re: Heated seats question

My tech at the dealer told me that they can replace the heating pads but the seat never really comes out like factory - I told him that I might as well wait and see if jeep comes up with a software solution - we will see -2015 HA

I think the crunchy sound is normal. Both my 2014 overland and my 2015 HA have that sound when I push on the front seats. I think it has to do with the ventilated seat membrane. My 2014 would get too hot, whereas my HA is warm and not consistent in terms of the temperature. My guess is they must have reduced the current flowing through the heating elements. Maybe there is a software change they can make to boost the current back up.

Re: Heated seats question

Does anyone have a theory or explanation why the Summit, which has the same type seats (I believe), doesn't seem to have this same issue as the high altitude. Why would they change the current on a HA but not a Summit?

My seats might technically be considered to be heated up by manufacturer, but even on high, I can barely tell they are on. When on low, its like they are not working. Compared to Limiteds I have driven where the high setting has to be turned down to low because they are too hot.

Heated seats question

No luck. Dealer believes it's a manufacturing issue and without a Recall they are only guessing to find the root of the problem. As a result they are not willing to replace or further troubleshoot without the cost being payed by Chrysler.

Re: Heated seats question

I've resorted to sticking my arse on the heated steering wheel. At least something gets warm. (^_-)

Re: Heated seats question

My 2004 300M is a toaster, 30 degrees warmer than my 2014 Overland and 2014 SRT given the same 8 ~ 10 minute run time and same ambient temp.

The Jeep heaters are so poor that the exhaust heats the floor hotter than the heaters heat the seat.

and just for fun:
