Heated steering wheel question (2015)

Hey everyone, I have a question I just got a new 2015 gc and it has heated steering wheel. Not sure if it's normal or not but if it is it seems weird.

Ok so when I first start up the car then turn on the heated steering it would turn on for less then a min then turn off and I'll turn it back on and it would stay on. This seems to usually happen when i leave the car off for long periods of time like when I'm at work all day or asleep at night but usually after that it usually turns on and stay on when I make usual stops and back.

Also, the auto comfort thing, when does that turn on? Does it have a certain temp range the out side has to be? I think it worked for me once and it heated up my seats and steering wheel and since then every time I remote start my car it doesn't do it. I checked the settings and it's definitely on. This morning the temp reading outside on the car was 36 and it didn't heat up the seats or anything. Is it because I turn off my climate control, should it be set at auto?

Well thanks in advance, just wanted to ask here as there's not enough time in the day right now to run to the dealership lol

Re: Heated steering wheel question (2015)

As far as the steering wheel, others here have posted similar issues with both the steering wheel and seat heaters.

Regarding the rest, stuff only automatically comes on if the system is left in auto mode. In addition, the heated seats and wheel will only automatically come on when it's cold - below 40.

The rest of the climate control stuff is dependent on the temperature you set - and that means passenger and driver unless you link them.

Heated steering wheel question (2015)

Heated Steering Wheel Inop!!

This should help with the wheel turning off after switching it on. I had the same issue and asked last week. There is an update that will fix it. Take it in and have it applied.

Not sure if the update helps with the auto comfort settings.

If you leave UConnect alone and let it pair with any phones, pick up SXM, and set up nav so you can view a map, can you then manually punch the heated wheel button and get it to come on? If I turn mine on as just the seat/controls shows up at start, it will go on. If I wait till the main Uconnect screens show up, it refuses to pay attention until after the thing completely settles down, then works like a charm from there on.

Yes I went and got the update applied and it's been working since. The dealership also replaced something else (so they told me). Did you get the latest update applied?

I have had this issue once with my heated seat. It kept turning off after I'd turn it on. Then later I tried again and it worked fine.

Re: Heated steering wheel question (2015)

No, doesn't work anyhow, even after I restore the settings. I am going to the dealer next Wednesday. I check my Uconnect Software Version, it shows 15.17.5, this one should be the latest? when I enter my vin on Uconnect website, it shows my jeep need a update, but the same version UCONNECT® 8.4AN_RA4_15_17_5_MY15. I dont quite get it

The steering wheel contains a heating element that helps
warm your hands in cold weather. The heated steering
wheel has only one temperature setting. Once the heated
steering wheel has been turned on it will operate for up
to 80 minutes before automatically shutting off. The
heated steering wheel can shut off early or may not turn
on when the steering wheel is already warm.
