Re: Hello all!! Big problem with my new Jeep grand cherokee Overland!

"undisclosed object"...what's the point of even saying that?

Leave a running vehicle unattended w/o applying the parking brake = stupidity.

I agree. A typical case of someone who doesn't want to take responsibility for their own stupidity.

Re: Hello all!! Big problem with my new Jeep grand cherokee Overland!

Back in the late-80's, my grandfather's Ford F-150 jumped out of park and ran over him as he was behind it opening a fence. Thankfully he injuries were not life threatening and he fully recovered. Needless to say, Ford was very quick to take the vehicle for safety inspections. In the end he got a new truck of his picking (plus some cash). I do not recall the specifics, but Ford implemented a new safety feature on their transmissions as a result of the incident.

Glad no one was injured in your accident.

I call bullshit until I see pictures and a police report.

But nice troll thread nonetheless

Re: Hello all!! Big problem with my new Jeep grand cherokee Overland!

That transmission is not new to the jeep and mechanically works the same no matter what vehicle it's attached to. If you really feel it's a mechanical reason then research the transmission.

Other than that, I've never heard of an automatic coming out of park, doing into neutral/drive, and then going back into park.

Sounds like a neighborhood kid issue.

Re: Hello all!! Big problem with my new Jeep grand cherokee Overland!

I believe this happened. True story: One time I went into my garage and my GC was hovering about two feet in the air. It started spewing green bile out the exhaust and I heard a voice speaking ancient Aramaic saying "die..........die.............die".

I called Jeep. They sent me a free ballcap.

Re: Hello all!! Big problem with my new Jeep grand cherokee Overland!

People are indicating having an unattended running vehicle in park is foolish. What about the factory installed Remote Start function? I use it regularly. It does serve a purpose. While most times I use it when approaching the vehicle (let the RPMs settle down), sometimes it is used to warm/cool the interior. This can take a couple of minutes. At those times, I am not watching the vehicle.

I make no comment on the validity of the posters situation, but having an unattended vehicle running for a few minutes is not uncommon.

Does it seem as stange to you as it does to me that we have not heard back from the OP yet?
