Help - Heater cold and Temp Gauge jumping

I tried to search on the forum but couldn't find my exact issue. First noticed that my heater was blowing cold air regardless of the temperature I put it on. Next thing I noticed is that my temperature gauge for the engine was moving around between 190 and 240 degrees fairly quickly. The oil temperature was constant so it seems more like a computer/electrical issue versus a real radiator/engine issue.
Thoughts?
