Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

It could be the light and angle as I was in the service drive tunnel when I snapped the shot. From looking at the seat (physically), you cannot tell the difference.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

To Pharmade and all... I too have noticed the exact same problem. Picked up my GC Overland, White with Saddle interior in Aug 2011. It is a March 2011 production. I notice the problem in the first 2 weeks (300 miles) of use. I tried leather conditioner, no help. Took it to the dealer. They took pictures and will work with the regional Rep if I want to replace it. I think i will have them order the part and replace. It is not getting any better... now at 4K miles.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

Rick... If you can please post pictures. In my previous responses, I am going to create a business justification case regarding the seat wear issue as this is something that can/is impact the resale value and eventually get to the point where Jeep will no longer replace the materials.

Thanks!

Dennis

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

I will try to post pics before they replace mine. I know it is hard to see the wear in a photo... but will try.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

I suspect it will continue to happen and eventually you will have no warranty so it will come out of your pocket if you want to keep replacing.

I have almost 18k on the summit and have ordered a new seat cover. It should be in next week.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, my fears are just as some of you mentioned. I'm concerned that they will eventually turn this to an "out of pocket" expense because of the repeated incidents. I will say that I really had time to search this thread last night and I stumbled upon a bunch of TSB's that will resolve some of the other issues that I noticed as well. I haven't had anything done to my JGC except oil changes. I'm always afraid that the correction of one problem (and individual levels of mechanical expertise) could lead to another one. But... if you are experiencing any issues (i.e. steering wheel clunk at low speeds, random alarm going off (started last week at work), 5.7L updates to shift patters and improved performance) search the thread and look under the problems section.

On another note, I did stumble across some individuals that had issues with the seat "crunching" when getting in and out of the vehicle? Mine crunches like a bunch of grocery store bags, but it's the seatback I think? There were some remedies for that problem as well.

Good luck everyone!

Regards,

Dennis D.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

I'm noticing this wear on my saddle seat now. 2000 miles. Wonder if I can get the dealer to just get me a seat cover under warranty and I will replace it later myself down the road? Or, get them to agree to replace it but wait until just before my warranty is up to replace it?

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

If I were you, I would not wait. I think that it's best to start hitting them early on so that they can realize that this is a pretty widespead issue. Also, this is the reason why I am going to write a letter to the manufacturer and complain about this issue. I'm just concerned that they will no longer replace the covers once the vehicle has accumulated decent mileage.

Time has not been on my side lately, but I plan to draft a letter soon with supporting evidence that I will send to Jeep. They've advertised the quality of the leather on commercials and how the interior was ranked "best" by another source. I plan to position the letter upon those facts and that I am not the least bit afraid to start sending letters to those sources with picture evidence supporing our cause.

Thanks,

Dennis D.

Re: HELP! Saddle finish wearing off.

When you write your letter would you mind sending me a copy? I'll send in too.
