Thumbs up Hemi/redline prior to 2k miles

Well, if I did not break it in with the two long trips to the west side of the state, or pulling our boat out of storage - I most certainly broke-in the hemi last night.

On the way home last night I decided to blow out an unsuspecting sports car at a stop light - by throwing it in "Sport" and putting it in "1" last night. Only problem is that - I forgot to shift, and it remained in "1" for a little while at the red line and roared for a little bit before I realized that I needed to shift!

I will say that this is a rather impressive engine! However, I will refrain from making "red line" a daily occurrence.

Re: Hemi/redline prior to 2k miles

Doubt you have anything to fear. The Hemi is a heavy-duty robust design and the electronics should prevent you from going INTO the redline (fuel shuts off). Enjoy.

Did you win the race???

I never believed in breaking in an engine by running it at low rpm anyway. the engine needs to be spun, that is what it was built for.

I got a Hemi and have been driving it like a Hemi since I got it.

Re: Hemi/redline prior to 2k miles

awww, this can be counted as loss for you

I don't redline mine, but after 500miles, i drive normal ( occasionaltake off from traffic light like a mad man). Additionally in CO the highway mergers are fun....so w/o going to the track you can do 1/4 mile passes, so i have a number of "all she got" accelerations

Re: Hemi/redline prior to 2k miles

Ya ive done the same in mine a couple times (redline bouncing)
I always forget because I have an 05 Magnum RT and it them when you shift down to first they wont gear hold. They will switch when you hit redline.

Pretty sure it wont hurt anything, thats what the limiter is on there for.
