Hemi smoking?

So I was sitting in the parking lot this morning, waiting to see the eye doctor (scratched cornea, yeah fun fun) and I gave the throttle a little blip just to hear the dynomax exhaust. I look into the right side exterior mirror to see a rather large cloud of blue smoke roll by. WTF?! I've only got 4500 miles on it! It was on a very very slight incline and I did do an oil change over the weekend with the proper oil. I'm pretty sure it was below the max level mark on the dip stick.
I hope I don't regret my 1st Chrysler purchase ever.

Anyone else ever have this happen? :banghead::angry:

Guess I need to start looking for a good catch can?

It is a known problem that many suffer from however Jeep says it is "normal" operation. Just to let you know a catch can is a good idea but will not help you at all from the smoking problem.

Just to be clear this wasn't at start up. I had drove about 10 miles and was sitting idling in the parking lot because I was early.....playing with the NAV system.

So billet tech, I'll look into that.

Still waiting on the doc.
If it happened when the engine was running and it smoked when you gave it gas then that is classic leaking valve seals. Catch can won't help. Take to the dealer and show them.;)

The smoking at start up has decreased a lot in the past few weeks. I only smokes a little after sitting at idle on a slight incline. I have 13k miles on it now and I wonder if the rings have finally seated. I have it in the shop right now for a laundry list of small issues. I spoke to the service manager about the oil that I'm collecting in the catch can. He wants to replace the PCV valve to see if that helps. Time will tell.;)

my 13 SRT 8 GC smokes in the morning when I started blue blue grey on the right bank and goes away but it does it every time on a cold start I don't know why um maybe a valve seal bus I don't like it because there's only like 3000 miles on it anybody got any answers and the only thing that I have done to it is I have a Hennessy cold air kit and Hypertech interceptor that's it and I do have a catch can but the cat scan is tilted a little bit uh towards the back of the engine maybe this is the problem and I don't believe that there's any mesh in the catch can so I have a new one coming don't know if this helps anybody but maybe somebody can help me thanks a bunch of guys

The last three cars I've owned, Acura, Jeep, Chevy, all gave off quite a bit of white/light grey smoke on start up and for the first few miles, in cold weather.

My current Jeep continues to do this on hard acceleration even after the car warms up. At times it is so thick you can't see out the rear window for a couple of seconds. Driving at any constant speed and this goes away. It has only started since the weather got really cold.

If it continues once the weather warm up I'll have the dealer take a look.

Has happened to me since the day I purchased it.. the PCV systems on the HEMI's are C R A P ... so I added a catch can.

Yeah I still get a puff every now and then when I WOT

I haven't experienced anything like that but I did order a catch can from Billet Tech last week.....which still hasn't shipped
its because the have to laser etch the cans and powder coat them.. it will be worth the wait, trust me.
