Hemi's and cold climates

I'm sure this could go for warmer areas to but Probably less likely. So the next time you detail the jeep pull the engine cover off and have a look make sure there's no mouse nest under it or the intake manifold. Little bastards! Smart though. Just a heads up this cloud be a fire issue come hot summer. I'm probably the only one with a mouse nest under the cover but a least I found it before anything stupid happened.

Re: Hemi's and cold climates

Just send a cat up there to clean them out.
... and don't forget to remove the cat--they like nice warm engines too.
... as do possums and raccoons. Although you could send up a raccoon to get any kitty cats out... From there you are onto coyotes, etc.

Re: Hemi's and cold climates

Problem with this long New England winter is the chipmunks and squirrels getting up there and having a nice lunch of nuts and leaving all the shells . I just leave the engine cover off this time of year and I make sure to check it if I have not moved the Jeep in a few days.
Last winter I had to rewire a couple of different cars for my family. I have not found any reliable deterrent that works consistently.

A reliable deterrent for mice is drops of peppermint oil on cotton balls.Mice hate the smell.

Re: Hemi's and cold climates

Man that's crazy!!! I will definitely be checking mine. There's also a product called "fresh cab natural rodent repellent", it's been getting excellent reviews.

Works for ants too.

CAUTION: If using pure peppermint oil, do NOT get it on your hands, etc. and if you do get it on your hands, do NOT even think about touching anything else on yourself. Stuff is worse than Habanero oil.

That looks like a mess. I had a mouse putting acorns in mine. That was definitely a chore getting those out of there. Also found two fly maggots in there as well. Probably the little guy didn't make it out. Didn't smell anything thought. Good the know the filter works well.
