High engine temp going up steep hill

Hi Everyone,

my GC is a 2012 Laredo X with the 6cyl. I have been experiencing rapid change of engine temperature going up steep hill, the gauge would reach close to the red line. Once I would pass the hill and would be going to a more flat road, the temp would go back to its normal range. Coolant level is ok.
I want to get your feedback before taking her in and getting ripped off, LOL!!

Thanks!!!!

Re: High engine temp going up steep hill

It sounds like it might be an issue with your fan. If you are going up a steep hill you may not be going fast enough for there to be enough airflow to keep the coolant temperature in range. When you go downhill the rapid airflow brings down the temperature. Driving at normal speeds are enough to also create enough airflow to keep your coolant temps in range. If the airflow is not sufficient to keep coolant in range the cooling fan should come on until normal operating temperature is reached.
Should be an easy fix.
