Has anyone found a good aftermarket blower? My 2011 JGC Overland has the blower whine mentioned on this thread. I'm about to replace it on my own and out of pocket (mine is out of warranty)

I just want to do this ONCE so I'm looking for a more reliable part than the OEM version that people are having to replace every 10-30k miles...

Any suggestions?

Has anyone used an aftermarket blower successfully???

I'm not really sure you'll be able to find an aftermarket version of this blower?

The OEM Blower Motor part # for my 2012 which I'm sure will fit all 2011~2014 WK2's is;

68079477AB MSRP $153.00

Most online discount retailers will sell this to you for a little more than ~ $100.00. I had mine replaced once and haven't had any problem with it since.

Re: High pitched noise from HVAC blower motor

I developed a high-pitched whistle after changing my cabin air filter.

Readjusting the CAF door cleared the noise...

Re: High pitched noise from HVAC blower motor

I also have a 2011 JGC (Laredo) with the same HVAC blower motor noise. I'd brought it in a while back and they mentioned that the motor needed to be replaced, but I felt the $600-700 repair cost was absurd. Naturally, I would like to do this myself instead.

The part I've found is on Amazon Amazon.com: Mopar 6807 9477AB, HVAC Blower Motor: Automotive for ~$105. Is this a suitable replacement, and any tips for the replacement steps?

Thanks!
Mike

Re: High pitched noise from HVAC blower motor

Great info. This is a poorly designed blower with bearings that will go out almost every other year if you are in an area with low Winter temps and warm humid Summers. I have no more $100 deductible extended warranty, so I will be ordering these next time unless I can find an alternate supplier than fixed the roller bearing issues. It shouldn't be a hard thing to correct using powdered graphite or an alternate bearing design. I've have had 3 in my 5 year old WK2. Ridiculous.

Re: High pitched noise from HVAC blower motor

I have 60k on my 2014 and have replaced the motors twice. Both out of warranty of course.

First time I replaced it with a mopar part, and it only lasted 6 months before making noise again. Most recently replaced it with an aftermarket unit from rockauto.com and it started out with a high pitch noise at high fan speeds which went away with use. Not that it is getting cold here (in the 50's) the motor is making a squealing noise on low fan speeds. I really can't win with these damn motors.

Any one take them apart yourself and relube the bearings??

Re: High pitched noise from HVAC blower motor

Just traded in the WK2 on a 2016 Trailhawk. I hope to have better luck with less automatic stuff other than the cold weather package with heated everything. Looks good as a Lava Shark.

Please do not let the HVAC blower issue follow me. So far its nice and looks great.

Best of luck gents.
