Hit the Beach...and the ESC Light Stayed On

I hit a snowy beach this weekend. The WK2 did well enough (I didn't push it that hard). But I had a couple of questions.

First of all the ESC light stayed on when we left the beach. It was on the next time I started the car too. But it turned off after a few minutes. I know this is mentioned in the manual, but what does it mean? Did I use the wrong setting on the Select Terrain?

Also, it is tricky to get it in and out of low gear. Is that true for anyone else? Any advice?

Thanks.

To get in/out of low gear let the Jeep roll real slow. It needs to be in some motion to engage and the gears to mesh.

Re: Hit the Beach...and the ESC Light Stayed On

Thanks.

Also, as far as the ESC goes...I think my mistake was that I had left it on. It should be turned off on the beach. Doh.

BTW, our beach is pretty rough. Besides sand, it is peppered with big and little rocks and other hazards lurking just below the sand. Adding to that this weekend was lots of ice and snow -- and extremely high tides resulted in some quick sand type stuff. I did alright -- but I was careful. I got stuck at one point in some really high snow with sand under it (plus I was in old tracks). I just couldn't get traction. I backed out of it alright and took an alternate path.

The good news is that up and down the very steep cobblestone path to the beach the WK2 didn't even hesitate. With all the ice and snow on it I was worried. And I'm sporting the original Michelin Latitudes (I'm just too cheap to replace them). It was easier to drive the path then to walk it.
