Re: Hitch fitment issues

Never used one but it looks like it would help.

I have a Kuat Sherpa platform bike rack, and the tightening cam is built into the rack from the factory. I don't trailer anything, so I can't help you with a standalone unit.

Re: Hitch fitment issues

As a previous member posted, a hitch tightener will stop the play in the hitch. I use this one to mount my cargo carrier. Makes the carrier feel like it's bolted to the frame of the Jeep.

Thanks for posting. I guess I will have to get one. I just hate that it's necessary because I don't need my ball mount every day. To remove the ball mount I will have to unbolt the hitch tightener each time I unhook. Sloppy workmanship for a factory tow hitch.

I may eventually run some welds on the ball mount and grind it down to custom fit. PITA though.

Re: Hitch fitment issues

With our units being uniboby construction any slop in the hitch transits throughout the vehicle. I have the Stow Away Hitch Tightener Craig McGrath mentioned. It makes the hitch completely silent as long as the ball fits fairly tight in the hitch.
