Hk rattling

Hey guys I have a 2015 summit with HK audio and have been dealing with a rattling speaker in my driver door panel and my sub in the trunk area since the day I bought the car. It happens mostly around 16+ volume level (normal listening vol for me) and the higher you go the worse it gets. I have been d!cked by the dealership 2 times, first they tried helping by doing a software update(wtf?!) and the second time the guy did nothing and said "it's sound distortion from cranking the bass and volume too loud" the bass was on the middle and the volume was on 20 when showing them the problem and they straight up said there's nothing we can do. I mentioned that I paid $2000 extra for the hk for it to sound good and it sounds horrible. Now I called again and asked for them to fix my speakers and they say that since it's not on every song that it's the songs fault and not the jeep so again I'm out of luck. Can anyone help me out with what to say to this dealership to get them to fix my speakers? Also does anyone else have issues with their speakers especially the Harmon kardon?

From all accounts the HK is a great sound system. Can you try a more responsive dealership? Vote with your feet.

Hk rattling

The sub and speaker generally only rattle on bass heavy songs, I'd say over 50% of my music will cause rattles at 20+ volume, am I just being too picky or should this not be happening?

Also I'm going to one of the best dealerships in my area, I went to a different dealership once for an oil change and received horrible service and a very rude service rep.

Re: Hk rattling

speakers r loose....my driver rear door speaker nuts were only "started" by the factory (said the dealer)...sounded like a full beer can rolling front to back when I accel/decel, turns out it was my loose speaker

that said, I am an old school 70's classic rock child so I make everything else rattle like sunroof parts, outside mirror caps, etc. to this day...try Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" on max volume, rattle city but I love it

Re: Hk rattling

Update: spoke to the service manager and he suggested I contact the salesperson I bought the car off. I asked to see another grand Cherokee with the HK system to see if it had the same problem which they were trying to tell me was normal. After showing her the problem, she was surprised to see I was having this issue with a brand new ($70,000) grand Cherokee and immediately spoke to her manager and requested to have it fixed. I now have an appointment next Wednesday to have some foam/padding installed to hopefully solve the issue. Funny how they only decided to fix the problem once I left a 1 star review on their dealerships google page and annoyed the hell out of them 😂 it took 4 tries but at least they finally agreed to try to fix it.

Re: Hk rattling

Service sent you to sales to resolve a service problem? That's a new one for me but I'm glad somebody is finally doing something for you. Like you said, that's a bunch of money.

Did the other GC you listened to sound better?

Re: Hk rattling

I showed them that when pressing down agains the panels, the rattling disappears. So they think the problem is just loose panels and will be fixing it with foam and padding which I agree with. And the saleswoman I spoke to said right away that i don't even need to check out another car, they agreed pretty much right away that there was definitely something wrong...

Just for giggles have them actually tighten the nuts.

Hahahah I'll have them check the nuts.. I would be so relieved if that's the only issue
