Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

This exact same thing happened to my new '14 and I was clueless as to what happened. Haven't recreated it since and I hope it was a one time thing.

Makes me worry about the electronics though, which have been a little quirky and are taking some getting used to.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

So far I don't know what causes it. Oddly, mine did it again this afternoon after not doing it for many months...

mine did it this afternoon also. And I also watched it lock the doors on its own when I was cleaning some dirt off the outer drivers window, keys were sitting on the tool box so not like I bumped the fob or anything. strange

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

I have tried to figure why it honks.....the only thing I can think of is that the vehicle must mistakenly think the keys are still inside the vehicle when I press "lock" on the remote...... That is the only explanation I can think of as I am outside but near the vehicle when this happens...............

Try locking it when you are a bit further away from the vehicle... also try changing the battery in your key fob.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

This has happened when close and sometimes from several feet (10 feet even) behind too as I am walking away from my Jeep while locking it with the remote. It happens very randomly and for well over a year. Have been wondering what my Jeep is trying to tell me...... My FOB battery has worked fine so dunno why the honk, honk, honk..... :-)

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

Anybody have an update on this? Mine has done it a number of times and I never paid attention to when until today. Build date is Jan 9 2014. I shut the vehicle off, swung the door open, pressed the lock button the door, and hopped out. As soon as I shut the door it honked 3 times and unlocked all the doors. Not sure what kind of "feature" this is supposed to be. On the bright side at least it honks letting you know that it's unlocking all of the doors. Otherwise the vehicle would sit open all day.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

In your situation, I think it was because the key fob was still inside the vehicle at the time. My issue was I was clearly outside by several feet and it was doing it.......no key fob inside.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

happened to me once for no obvious reason, (all doors closed and my friend wasn't near the GC)
I just ignore it when i make sure everything was ok.

this is exactly why.. The jeep thinks the keys are still in it so its warning you.

Same thing with sometimes, when getting out - I use the lock button on the door. I am out but the truck thinks im in, so unlocks right after I hit the lock.

Also, with the truck running, you get out.. and it starts beeping.. Toss the keys on the seat.. 1/2 the time it still beeps and cant see the key.

Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

If you shut off the vehicle, open the drivers door, while sitting in the vehicle, hit the lock button on the door or with the fob in your pocket, while still sitting in the vehicle, when you get out and close the door, the horn will honk three times and the doors will NOT get locked. It is telling you the fob is inside the car.
