Re: Honk, honk, honk - HELP!

Mine has been experiencing the same problem sporadically for at least the past 6 months. Most times after locking the vehicle, and after I'm up to 30 feet away, the vehicle unlocks itself without any horn notification at all. Luckily I've been able to hear the vehicle unlock itself so I walk back to the vehicle and try locking it again. Ridiculous.

Then there have been times when I approach the vehicle after its been parked and locked for over 2 hours and it unlocks itself from 20 feet away even though I didn't even reach into my pocket to remove the key fob.

These vehicles have some strange electrical gremlins that Chrysler will never be able to figure out. My dealer and Chrysler want me to leave the vehicle with them while they attempt to diagnose it (along with the keyfob requiring 4 clicks to open liftgate problem that has been this way for well over 14 months now) but I really don't want my vehicle to be a guinea pig and be torn apart. Probably only cause more problems.

This sounds like something is wrong with one of the handle "touch" sensors, or something was on the touch sensors (was it raining or wet for any reason?) making it think you grabbed a handle.

yep, what Wiz says is prob it.. the touch hand has some sort of short so when you get within range, it thinks you are touching the handle.

Rain would be nice but we haven't seen rain out here (CA) since a few drops that maybe got the ground moist. And that was back in January. But hopefully the touch system in the door handle is faulty.

Change your batteries often. I buy the four pack.

From my original post....there must have been a glitch in the matrix making the 2011 GC think the keys were still inside even tough they were 10 feet away or so. No biggie. Whatever the occasional glitch was....there is no such glitch in the 2014 GC.

3 Honks, I'm OUT!!!

Soooo I have been experiencing the same thing on my newly acquired 2014 WK2 SRT. It honked 3 times today but someone else parked next to me and locked his Mitsubishi Eclipse and I thought it was his vehicle not mine. Well now that I got back to the hotel since I'm on vacation, Valet locked the Jeep and I heard it for sure this time. I have only put a Diablo Trinity tuner on my Jeep and that's the only thing I can think of messing with the computer system. Any update to what ya'll have figured out since first posted on the issue?

I have had this problem in my 2014 grand Cherokee since I bought it. Sounds like it is not the only vehicle having this issue. I came here to see if anyone had a this issue and found that it is a common thing amongst the jeep line.
