Horrible squeaking

I have a 2013 Overland Summit with 8k miles. It started having a horrible and loud squeaking sound coming from the drivers side dash or windshield area this summer. I have pushed, pulled and done everything I can think of to try and locate the squeak. It is so loud you can clearly hear it even with the radio on a normal volume. It happens sometimes when I hit road imperfectns or pot holes, but not all the time. Other times it squeaks on smooth roads when windy or the body flexes, but the sound always come from the same general area. The crazy thing is, and I'm not sure I'm not just loosing my mind, but it doesn't seem to squeak when it's raining. Taking it in to have the dealer fix it, but I thought I would check here to see if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

Ps. It's so bad that if they cant fix it I may get rid if the truck, it's driving me freaking crazy. On a $51,000+ truck this is unacceptable.

Have you done any work at all to the truck?i had a similar issue with my old Subaru which i swore was in the cabin but it ended up being a retaining clip holding my brake line in i place in the wheel well. I doubt you would hear that kind of thing in the GC because of the sound absorption in it but try looking at some not so obvious things.

I had a squeak similar to what you are experiencing. Turned out to be a bolt missing from the PCM bracket in the engine compartment. Dealer put in a new bolt and it is good to go now. The sound was coming from the passenger side front but was hard to pinpoint.

Thanks for everyones sugesstons. The only work done was an oil change about 3k ago and since you mentioned it that is about the time it started, but what could they have done? Also had a biked hit my drivers door in January and i had it repainted, but the squeak did not occur until this summer.

Regarding the roof, I went around the whole inside of the sun roof to check the clips and noting seems to be loose or or clipped properly. I get the sound with the roof open, closed or with the sun screen open or closed. I just got back from a 450 mile road trip and it drove me nuts the entire time!

Re: Horrible squeaking

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

That squeek was driving me mental! I tore off the A-Pillar trim, hunted in there, the dash the foam that resides inside the front quarter panel.... I was ready to light it on fire.

For me, it was the windshield washer nozzle hose that routes up along the drivers side hood hinge. Its routing is loose. Temporarily I was able to wrap it around the other side of the hinge to tighten it up and so far no squeeking has returned.

Hope this helps, I was so frustrated!

Re: Horrible squeaking

Update:

Took my jeep in for an oil change yesterday morning and had them look at the squeak and thunk/slippage in the drivetrain. I received a call a few hours later from the service advisor who cheerfully said your jeep is ready for pick up. I said did they fix the think slippage and did they find the source of the squeak. She said yes, they updated the software and that took care of everything. Great, but that is impossible for the squeak and I didn't want the car back until it was fixed. She goes on to say that yes it took care of it. I about lost my mind and told her that's crazy. She said she would speak with the tech and call me back. She calls back about 20 mins later and said her tech couldn't duplicate the squeak, I came unglued. When I was finished she said she then had her head tech drive it and he heard it right away. He looked on their computer and found there was a bulletin for the hood latch that could cause it. He then took it out for a test drive with the hood unlatched and it didn't squeak so he did the bulletin fix which was adjusting the latch and it fixed the problem. So far so good today, no squeak. Just thought I would share in case anyone else as the same problem. also the trans is much better, not perfect, but 100x better.
