How do you get at the fog lights?

Tonight I noticed I have a fog light bulb out (driver's side). The owner's manual just says to check with the dealer, but a search showed that others have managed to get in there (albeit with no how-to).

How does one go about changing out these bulbs? I admit I didn't look when I had my fascia off for the tow hook install, but I don't want to go tearing in there before I get the bulbs, and I don't want to get the bulbs before I know how difficult this is likely to be.

I know yuo can remove the bezel surround just by pulling out.....

but you may have to lay on the ground and reach up through the bumper from the bottom

T,.....you can access them through the access hole in the wheel wells.... many have refered to this port as the side marker blub access just give the cover a 1/4 turn and remove or lay on the ground as scott suggested....p

When I installed the HIDs in my fogs I unclipped the fabric inner fender walls and pull it back enough to see cleary to the fog light.

Re: How do you get at the fog lights?

OK, did a little research, and for those who don't know...

The type of fog light used in the Grand Cherokee is a PSX24W. Apparently the fed.gov recently fiddled with lighting regulations, and now fog lights have been pretty well neutered over what they have been. This PSX24W is unavailable in the market except from the parts counter at the dealer (for $50), and is still basically cosmetic- won't put out enough light to really make much of a difference.

If you like the idea of functional foglights, you're going to have to start thinking about an aftermarket replacement kit, likely one that uses the original wiring to trip a relay, but powers the lights themselves directly from the battery- the OEM wiring only provides 24W to drive these things, which isn't that much.

Looks like for now I'll have the dealer replace the bulb under warranty, but I'll keep an eye out for an easy swap kit that will look stock when it's done.

HID Fog Lights

Here is a thread on the HIDs I installed on my WK2. Basically we modded a 5202 bulb to fit. The bulbs are the exact same size and the clips match up perfectly. All I needed to due to fit the bulb was file off the slide on the side of the bulb. We did have to extend the relay and also file the connections to fit the stock harnesses. But the kit works great and I've had ZERO issues with it.
