How to install blind nylon rivet

I need to replace a blind nylon rivet on a fender flare. The part number is
06500911. Do I need a rivet tool to do this? If not, how do I do it?

Just go to O'Reilly's or auto zone and pick up 1/4" nylon rivets. They're like a dollar and you can reuse them instead of the one and done bs Chrysler uses. I think they cost me like $1.50 at auto zone.

How to install blind nylon rivet

There is a significant difference between a christmas tree or push pin type and a plastic rivet and what they do. Plastic rivets can be installed without a rivet tool, by inserting them then holding the rivet in place with one pair of pliers while not grasping the stem and with another pair of pliers allowing the stem to slide freely while pulling the stem you'll eventually collapse the rivet then cut off the stem. Or you can go to Harbor freight and spend $12 on the plastic rivet gun and kit

Harbor Freight item #97757. It works well.

Re: How to install blind nylon rivet

I bought the poly rivet kit today from Harbor and I agree, it works great. In fact 10 of the 40 rivets that were included are a perfect match for the Mopar part. Thanks for the help!
